Chapter 813
The man spoke with increasing conviction, trying hard to sway the executives before him.
“My lords, please think carefully. Doesn’t that woman raise many red flags? If she’s truly the leader of Cloudshadow Sect, then why didn’t she reveal her identity upon encountering other sect members?”
He added, “When faced with insubordination, she did nothing but injure the offender and let him go. Is that behavior even remotely reasonable?
“If she really were your revered Lady Valor, why didn’t she return to the sect? Why wait for you to find her? It’s because she’s an impostor. Only when you approached her did she feign acceptance, hoping to slip through your scrutiny!”
The man continued, “Don’t be fooled by her refined performance. She’s a fraud. There’s one more thing that’s been bothering me. The communication chip. How could she stumble upon such a critical item? Maybe she had sinister intentions toward the real sect leader. After all, Lady Valor has been missing for a long time. What if this woman were involved?”
He became more agitated. “I may be insignificant, but I once had the honor of witnessing Lady Valor’s presence during the great disaster in Frihamen City. I swear, anyone who has seen her will remember her for life.
“Now think about this woman. Does her temperament or demeanor resemble Lady Valor at all? Forgive my bluntness, but she lacks the kind of commanding aura that would make people tremble.”
His words left the interrogation room in stunned silence. The executives exchanged subtle, thoughtful glances.
What he said wasn’t entirely baseless. When they had first reunited with Raven, her demeanor was noticeably different. She lacked the commanding presence and domineering strength. Moreover, they couldn’t sense the distinct aura of a battle cultivator from her at all.
Just then, a Cloudshadow Sect disciple standing at the door hesitantly spoke up. “Mr. Devonport, I have something to report.”
“Speak.” Timonthy gestured at him.
The disciple said, “When Lady Valor first returned, she asked me to provide her with internal documents. These documents are all stored in our database. Why would she go through the trouble of asking me for them instead of logging in herself? Unless she doesn’t even know the database exists, or can’t
access it?”
The disciple’s remark shocked all the executives in the room.
Timonthy’s expression darkened immediately as his sharp gaze returned to the man bound in chains. “You say Raven is not our leader. Do you have any direct evidence? How do we know you’re not just stalling for time? Without concrete proof, we will not simply accept your word.”
The man’s heart, which had been hanging by a thread, eased slightly at that statement. If he wanted to survive Cloudshadow Sect’s judgment, he had to prove Raven was an impostor. Otherwise, he’d be mutilated and tortured to death.
He thought Raven could not be the true leader of Cloudshadow Sect.
With that in mind, he quickly replied, “Rest assured. I will find solid evidence. I’ve already sent someone to investigate, and results should be coming soon. Even without hard proof, I have a simple method to reveal if that woman is a fraud.”
