Chapter 820
“Of course I’m sure,” Benson replied, clearly confused. If Raven were dead, he wouldn’t have gone through all this trouble.
Benson continued, “Not only is she alive and well, but the executives of the Cloudshadow Sect have mistaken her for their missing leader and welcomed her back with open arms. What has she done to deserve such an honor?”
His eyes burned with jealousy. In his mind, Raven had stolen the future that rightfully belonged to him.
If not for Raven, he would still be the Third Commander of Vyrdenia, wielding tremendous influence. Without her, he wouldn’t have ended up on the frontlines, captured by the Sunset Empire, and stripped of all power.
All of it was Raven’s fault. Seeing her now bask in glory only fanned the flames of his hatred.
Nash had long since noticed the resentment boiling in Benson’s eyes. After scrutinizing Benson, he finally said, “You’re telling me the Cloudshadow Sert believes Raven is their sect leader? That’s impossible.”
Even if Raven hadn’t lost part of her memory, Nash had never heard of any connection between her and the mysterious Cloudshadow Sect, which had only risen to prominence in recent years.
Benson said grimly, “I thought the same thing. She’s just a low–born woman from the lower realm. How could she have founded such a powerful sect?”
He added, “She once pretended to be the top disciple of Mr. George Brown. Even his closest aides were alarmed by the deception. Later, afraid of being punished by Mr. Brown, she injured staff at the Spatial Point and fled illegally to Forreb.”
He continued, “I thought she’d finally learn to lay low after arriving in Forreb, but it hasn’t even been a few days, and she’s already back to her old tricks. She’s now impersonating the Cloudshadow Sect’s leader! She’s completely shameless!”
At this point, Nash was entirely convinced of Benson’s deep hatred for Raven. He needed someone to get rid of her, and Benson was the perfect candidate. “You seem to really despise her. Did you know her before?”
He didn’t care why Raven had returned to Forreb after fleeing to the lower realm five years ago. What mattered was that now she was back, and she wouldn’t be so lucky this time.
Back then, when Raven went to the lower realm, it was not convenient for him to make a move. Unexpectedly, in just five years, she returned to Forreb.
This time, she wouldn’t be able to escape.
Since Raven had just returned to Forreb and could not integrate the previous forces, he had to kill her immediately to prevent future troubles.
Benson said, “Of course. She used to serve under me in Vyrdenia. But she was arrogant and insubordinate, and was eventually discharged from the military.”
“You were her superior?” Nash’s eyes lit up as a plan began to take shape in his mind.
“That’s right. I know all her dirty secrets!” Benson thumped his chest. “Ask me anything, I’ll tell you everything!”
Nash replied, “No need for all that. What I want is proof. Do you have any concrete evidence that Raven lived in Vyrdenia five years ago?”
“Evidence?” Benson blinked, unsure why that was important.
“Yes. I need records of her presence in Vyrdenia five years ago. Videos, photos, official documents, anything. As long as we can prove she was in Vyrdenia five years ago, it’s over for her.” Nash’s voice was/urgent now.
He explained, “Raven must have a contingency plan to keep the Cloudshadow Sect executives from discovering the truth. But the sect was founded six years ago. If we can prove she was still in the lower realm back then, we can expose her deception!”
