Felipe was equally shocked, but as he remembered his identity as the soon–to–be son–in–law of the Cloudshadow Sect, he puffed up with pride and shouted at the inspection Bureau commander.
He snapped, “You’re just a lowly commander. How dare you do this to us? I am the fiancé of the leader of the Cloudshadow Sect. To arrest my friends is to disrespect me! And to disrespect me is to disrespect Lady Valor herself! Can you bear the consequences of that?”
He added, “Now release my friends immediately and arrest that filthy woman. Maybe then, I’ll consider sparing your pathetic life! Well? What are you standing there for? Did you not hear me?”
Seeing that the commander wasn’t responding, Felipe grew enraged and marched up to him, pointing a finger at his nose and yelling even louder.
He cursed, “You useless piece of shit! Taxpayers like us feed you, and this is how you repay us, by siding with a criminal at a critical moment?”
“Mr. Cherry, please be sensible.” The commander’s face darkened, but he still didn’t move to obey Felipe’s orders.
The other rich kids, already restrained, looked on in horror and disbelief.
They couldn’t understand it. They thought the commander was out of his mind.
Felipe had just clearly declared his ties with the Cloudshadow Sect. From any angle, the commander had no reason to disobey.
Yet the man stood firm, showing no intention of letting them go, let alone arresting Raven.
“What?” Felipe shouted, almost foaming at the mouth. “How much did that slut pay you to shield her like this? You’re protecting her. Are you two sleeping together or something?”
His rage spiraled out of control, and he turned to Raven, barking like a rabid dog.
“Raven! Don’t think you’ve won! Just because you seduced this fool doesn’t mean you’ll survive! I’m telling you. You’re dead! Even if these cowards
won’t act, once the Cloudshadow Sect executives arrive…”
Before he could finish, Raven slapped him hard across the face, leaving half of it red and swollen.
Felipe reeled from the blow, but before he could recover or scream again, a fist slammed into his chest.
“Make one more sound and I’ll kill you.” This time it was Cassian. He grabbed Felipe by the collar and shoved him hard to the ground.
“Let’s go, darling. No point wasting time on these arrogant idiots.” With that, he wrapped his arm around Raven and left the private room.
Cassian knew staying would only make things harder once the Cloudshadow Sect actually showed up.
Felipe might be a useless piece of trash, but he was still Lady Valor’s chosen fiancé.
Though honestly, Lady Valor’s taste must be absolute garbage if she could fall for someone who only knew how to hide behind his family name.
Raven, catching on to Cassian’s hidden concern, didn’t call him out. She simply walked out with him, calmly and without a word.
Meanwhile, the member of the Cloudshadow Sect, who had rushed over after receiving a call, quietly peeked at Raven’s departing figure. He silently backed even farther behind the decorative vase.
