Chapter 854
“What?” Everyone was shocked.
No matter how valuable the manor was, it was not worth spending a billion kryt to bid for it. Moreover, the highest number was 80 million. Even if they wanted to participate in the bidding, they could increase the price bit by bit. There was no need to bid that high directly.
“Who called for a billion kryt? Janice Larsson has only offered 80 million. How dare she bid 1 billion? She’s crazy!”
Janice also raised her eyebrows and looked in the direction of the voice. When she saw Raven, she was stunned before angrily saying, “Were you the one who called for a billion just now?” The surrounding people also murmured. Raven, who had been silent, had shouted a ridiculous price.
“Nonsense! Do you think this is an open market where you can bid as you please?” Dangelo was the first to speak. “You have to pay once the deal is done. How can a person like you pay for a billion kryt?
“Didn’t I keep telling you to be down–to–earth? Why didn’t you listen?” Dangelo thought he was standing on the moral high ground and reprimanded Raven with a condescending attitude. “If it weren’t for your help on the spatial vessel, I wouldn’t have bothered to remind you.”
Even if she was from a noble family, she and her family couldn’t gather that much kryt. This was the difference between Forreb and the lower realms. In Forreb, even a homeless person’s status was higher than a noble from the lower realm.
The idea of Raven trying to gain a foothold on her own in Forreb was foolish. Moreover, judging from Raven’s attire, she couldn’t be rich.
Back on the spatial vessel, members of the Cloudshadow Sect had said that Raven injured someone because she could not afford the cost of the spaceship. Hence, no one thought Raven came from a wealthy family. Dangelo couldn’t figure out how thick–skinned Raven was to boast so shamelessly.
While Dangelo was self–righteously scolding Raven, Janice was also looking at her. She hated others stealing her limelight because she had all the attention growing up.
At that moment, she realized the inferior person who overestimated herself dared to bid against her. She could not wait to get someone to drag Raven out and beat her to death.
However, before turning around, she saw Cassian sitting beside Raven. His exquisite and impeccable facial features made her forget her anger. She stared straight at Cassian’s face and could not look away. “Who is he?” Janice pointed at Cassian and asked, “Which family is he from?”
“Him? He’s not a nobleman,” a middle–aged man beside her replied. “He’s a lover of some lowly person. The one who bragged about bidding for the manor!”
“Lowly person?” Janice’s eyes flashed with obvious disdain. “That lowly person you mentioned is Raven, right? The one who arrogantly bid a billion…”
“That’s right.” To please Janice, the middle–aged man deliberately said in an exaggerated tone, “She’s provoking you.”
“How dare a lowly person like you compete with me?” Janice was disdainful. “A billion kryt is not a small sum. Can you pay that much?”
