Chapter 932
Others added, “She’s just some lowborn girl from a tertiary city. Even if she’s got some skills, she’s nothing compared to us here in Forlunda City
“If she dares set foot in Forlunda, she’s just asking for death!” another scoffed.
“Most of us here have cultivation levels at that of a lieutenant colonel, or at the very least, a mayor. That’s more than enough to crush some brat, others
added.
One of them sneered, “And she’s just a regular nobody with no powerful force backing her. She actually dared to offend Miss Janelle of the Larsson family? She must be tired of living!”
“Don’t worry, Miss Janice. Leave it to us!” another one promised firmly.
Blinded by the generous rewards Janice had promised, the clans barely gave a second thought to the fact that the girl they were targeting was young and powerless.
The group collectively thought, ‘Even if she had some talent, at her age, she could be no more than a mayor at best. Even if her strength somehow defied expectations and she reached the level of a major general, making her a match for some of the clan heads, she was still just one person. There was no way she could take on all of them.
‘If the elite clans and underground forces of Forlunda City couldn’t take out one inexperienced brat, we might as well give up our reputations. If word got out, people in even lower–tier cities would laugh us out of existence.‘
Watching the patriarchs so eager for blood, Janice laughed in satisfaction.
She thought, ‘Even if Raven was the woman who fell into the Spatial Gate after being hunted by our Larsson family back then, there’s no way her strength could be back at its peak.
‘Back at the wedding banquet, the only reason Raven managed to wipe out the entire Larsson family had to be because she had taken a fast–acting elixir tablet that temporarily boosted her cultivation level. Otherwise, with her true power, she never could’ve handled so many warriors at once.‘
Of course, Janice also understood the difference between those temporary elixirs and the legitimate ones crafted by proper pharmacists, like the mid- grade elixirs she now held.
While they also enhanced a cultivator’s strength, they had to be paired with ongoing training. Results could be seen in a few days or weeks, but there was no way they could cause a sudden spike in power within minutes.
And such sudden boosts came with a steep price: the severe strain on the user’s meridians. Once the effects wore off, Raven would likely be left extremely weak for quite some time, possibly unable even to access her current level of cultivation.
Just thinking about how Raven would be hunted down and killed the moment she stepped into Forlunda City eased Janice’s mind.
She muttered to herself, “Raven, if you dare show up, you’ll never leave alive. And you think you can compete with me to become the Scion’s shadow guard? Dream on. I’ll never let that happen.
“With these rare mid–grade elixirs as bait, these patriarchs will carry out the job eagerly. The moment you arrive in Forlunda, there’ll be no place left for you to die in peace.”
The more Janice imagined Raven being destroyed by the combined forces of Forlunda’s notable families, the more thrilled she became.
And as she pictured her bright future, how, once she passed the selection and became the Scion’s trusted aide, she’d rise to power in no time, her excitement only grew. Janice thought, ‘A nobody like Raven wasn’t even worth standing in my way.
While Janice continued dreaming about her glorious future, back in Frihamen City, the Cloudshadow Sect members who had received elixirs from Raven had already gone into seclusion to cultivate.
Unlike the mid–grade elixirs that needed days or weeks of cultivation, Raven gave them all top–tier elixir tablets.
