The checkpoint leader continued, “But I can’t really blame you. Any fighter with even a shred of pride wouldn’t stoop to becoming a woman’s lapdog charging into battle just to protect her.
“You better get lost. Raising a hand against trash like you would only insult my status. Go crawl back to your dump where you belong and stop embarrassing yourselves out here.”
“You, however, can stay.” He then turned to Raven and smirked, “Come back with me later, and I’ll arrange a place for you.
“Of course, there’s one condition. Since you’ve chosen to be my mistress, you’d better behave like a proper woman. No more using your looks to fool around behind my back…”

Before he could finish, Raven suddenly raised her hand and slapped him across the face. She had slapped him so hard that it knocked him fiat to the ground.
The leader lay stunned, blinking in shock for a few seconds before scrambling back to his feet.
He spat out a mouthful of blood, two teeth mixed in, and stammered, “Y–You… how does a woman with no inner power have that kind of strength?”
He couldn’t believe Raven had dared to strike him, and knocked out two of his front teeth in one hit. He frowned, thinking, “Isn’t she just a regular woman? How could she possibly be this powerful?‘
Wasn’t this woman just an ordinary person? How could she have such ability?
“Boss, are you okay?” One of the guards rushed over to help him up, concern written all over his face.
He then turned and shouted toward the checkpoint building, “We’ve got trouble out here! Someone’s making a scene–get out here now!”
His yelling drew out every guard stationed at the checkpoint. Armed and grim–faced, they stormed toward the Cloudshadow Sect members, ready to strike.
To the guards, these so–called Cloudshadow Sect disciples were nothing more than a disorganized rabble–easy to kill.
But what shocked them was that the group didn’t flinch. None of them moved to dodge or flee, as if they were waiting for the charge.
In truth, the Cloudshadow Sect members hadn’t made a move. They were all waiting for Raven’s command.
Raven hadn’t planned on bloodshed. But seeing how arrogantly the guards barked orders and drew their weapons, she decided they didn’t deserve another warning.
She ordered coldly, “Attack.”
When her words fell, the Cloudshadow Sect member at the front leapt forward and launched an assault on the guards.
They had only just advanced to Elite Warrior level and had been itching to test their strength. Now, facing a group of self–important guards, they looked eager to let loose.
Meanwhile, the checkpoint leader wiped the blood from his lips and finally came to his senses. Watching those so–called weaklings dare to go up against his men, he sneered and thought, ‘What a joke.
‘If you’re pathetic enough to follow a woman around, how smart could you possibly be? You know you can’t win, but you still run into to fire for pride? Pathetic.‘
He scoffed to himself again, ‘That woman only landed that hit because she caught me off guard.
‘These lower–class scum never fight fair–they’re nothing but filthy rats. All they can do is sneak attack. But today, I’ll show them what elite guards from a secondary city look like.

Chapter 935
We didn’t earn this position for nothing. Every one of my men is above Elite level.
‘Still stuck at the mid–tier stage, these bugs don’t stand a chance. The moment we strike, it’ll be death or crippling injuries for every one of them.
