Chapter 29 All She Needed

Vivienne went about her shopping as usual as if none of it had affected her.

Meanwhile, things were far worse for Celina.

When she got home, Jonathan lashed out at her.

“Who do you think you are to criticize Mrs. Farley? Even if she killed Vivienne, it’s none of your business. Stop causing trouble for me. If my career and my father suffer because of this, you’ll never escape me, and your grandfather will be miserable too. Try me if you dare.”

He then ordered the maid, “Take her mobile phone away. She should pray in the prayer room for three days. Don’t let her out before that.”

After returning to Crownvale Estates, Vivienne gathered detailed information online about the products and team members of Lunaris Technologies.

She had a good memory and quickly memorized it all.

But she had a small problem.

She had bought several outfits and couldn’t decide which to wear the next day.

She made a video call to Celina, but the maid told her that Celina was in the shower.

Just then, Frederick came, so she hung up the call and went to answer the door.

Frederick was holding a plate of peeled pomegranate seeds.

Vivienne praised sincerely, “The chefs at Crownvale Buffet are really dedicated.”

Frederick didn’t correct her.

He was the one who peeled the pomegranate today because Vivienne hadn’t gotten any yesterday.

He peeled the pomegranate yesterday too. Afraid of staining the watch Vivienne had given him, he took it off and put it in his

pocket.

He hadn’t expected to run into Sebastian. Otherwise, he would have worn the watch to show it off, and he wouldn’t have spent the whole night regretting it…

‘Professor Kingsley, please come in. I have something to ask you.”

Vivienne sounded respectful.

Frederick gave a faint smile.

He followed Vivienne, not expecting her to lead him into the bedroom.

Her bedroom? Frederick wasn’t prepared for this.

Not hearing movement behind her, Vivienne looked back at him.

There Frederick stood in the backlight, the glow highlighting the edge of his ear, which was slightly pink.

“Professor Kingsley, come on in.”

Vivienne invited him without a hint of embarrassment.

Frederick pushed up his glasses and said, “Coming.”

Before entering the bedroom, he had imagined countless scenarios.

Vivienne couldn’t reach the bag at the top of her closet? The bathroom lamp was broken? A plug wasn’t working?

Never in a million years did he expect she would ask him to help pick an outfit…

Vivienne said, pointing to her wardrobe, “I’m meeting the new head of Lunaris Technologies tomorrow. Professor Kingsley, which outfit do you think I should wear?”

She figured Frederick had friends at Lunaris and might know the gender and age of the new head.

She cared deeply about this job and wanted to make a good impression.

‘Are you serious?” Frederick asked.

Vivienne replied, “Of course. First impressions matter most.”

t dawned on Frederick. Vivienne was stressed out.

t was because Sebastian had belittled her a lot. Frederick wanted to destroy Sebastian again.

But he had been watching Vivienne since he was seventeen, so he knew her well.

light now, all she needed was just a weapon, to satisfy her burning desire for revenge and kill her enemy with her own hands.

With a complicated expression, Frederick looked at every piece of clothing and pointed to a set.

This one suits you well.”

Vivienne nodded in satisfaction. She agreed with him.

A blue blouse, a silk scarf, and white wide-leg pants.

Frederick added, “The pants look a bit loose. Did you try them on when you bought them?”

Chapter 29 All She Needed)

Good question. Vivienne hadn’t tried any of them on.

Although she pretended not to care, her spirits were dampened by Eliza.

“I’ll try them on now. Professor Kingsley, can you help me check?”

There was a faint smile in Vivienne’s eyes.

Frederick’s heart raced, and he blurted out, “I’m glad to help out.”

At 174 cm, Vivienne had an impeccable figure. A simple-cut blouse looked on her like a symbol of understated elegance and pride.

But she didn’t know how to tie a silk scarf.

The salesgirl had tied it for her at the shop, but the knot came loose when she pulled it over her head.

Standing face-to-face with her, Frederick casually looked down at her waist and saw the loose knot.

“The scarf is loose.”

Vivienne fiddled with it, but each attempt made the knot worse.

She thought her hands useless. Other than making chips or fighting, she had no idea what else they could do.

Vivienne sighed.

“Shall I help?”

Frederick seemed to ask her, but her scarf was already in his hands.

He lowered his head and folded the scarf with his long, clean fingers, looping it around her neck.

His fingertips were warm and damp, touching her skin with careful precision before retreating.

But Vivienne sensed his quiet breath on her ear.

A small patch of skin by her ear tightened under his warm breath, and she flushed.

Feeling her gaze, Frederick looked up.

Their eyes locked for what felt like ages.

Frederick had long eyes. When he lowered his eyes, narrow creases formed. He smiled politely, but in his deep eyes, there was a hint of emotion that Vivienne failed to fathom.

After what seemed like forever, Frederick said in a subdued voice, “There.”

As he let go, Vivienne stepped back, deliberately creating distance between them.

Thank you.”

Frederick glanced at his watch.

“The pomegranate seeds are best eaten tonight. If you can’t finish them, wrap them in plastic wrap and squeeze out the air before putting them in the fridge. If you’re too busy, text me, and I’ll come down and preserve them for you. Don’t eat the soft ones. They might upset your stomach…”

Vivienne frowned.

Frederick fell silent. Was she annoyed by his nagging again?

Had he nagged again?

If they lived together, he could take care of her personally. There would be no need for nagging…

That night, Vivienne didn’t sleep well.

Her mind kept replaying how to make the meeting with the new head perfect.

At dawn, she got up. After she washed up and put on makeup, she went for breakfast at the buffet and headed to Lunaris [echnologies.

ust as she got into a taxi, she received a call from Lucy.

Lucy sounded weak. “Mom, I have a fever. I want you to come take care of me.”
