Chapter 2
“Your daughter has been living off the best of everything at the Blackwood estate – top-shelf food, luxury items, you name it.”
“Cut the crap. Five million dollars, and I’ll let you walk.”
Beatrice looked down at us like we were dirt, knowing damn well we didn’t have that kind of money.
My family was just middle-class working people. Someone had leaked the secret about my ancient bloodline, so Beatrice had her people forcibly “invite” me to the Blackwood mansion to marry her son.
Five million? Where the hell would my family get that kind of cash?
Gabriel smirked at me coldly.
“Don’t have the money? Fine. Crawl around on your hands and knees three times, and I might consider letting you go.”
I stared him down.
“Gabriel, you’re going to regret this.”
“Regret?”
Gabriel burst out laughing like he’d just heard the world’s funniest joke.
“My family could crush nobodies like you with a snap of our fingers. If you hadn’t tricked me into thinking you had the bloodline we needed, you think I’d ever look twice at some hick like you?”
My mother closed her eyes in humiliation and dropped to her knees, starting to crawl.
“Leave my daughter alone! I’ll crawl.”
“You wanna instead of her? Fine, but that’ll cost extra.”
Lily’s tears had completely disappeared, and she smiled wickedly. “Bark like a dog too.”
I lost it watching my mother lose all her dignity like that, rushing forward to pull her up.
“Mom, get up! I’ll make them regret this!”
The laughter around us got louder.
“Dream on, Autumn! What could worthless trash like you possibly do to me? Besides, you lied first – you deserve to die!”
Looking at his murderous glare, exactly like right before he pushed me off that cliff in my past life, I took a deep breath, helped my tear-soaked mother to her feet, and turned on Lily.
“If lying means I deserve to die, then what about Lily doing hardcore porn in Japan? Should she be drawn and quartered?”
Lily froze, then let out a piercing scream.
“What the hell are you talking about?! I never did porn-stop spreading that disgusting lie!”
I threw several X-rated DVD with erotic covers on the ground, laughing coldly.
“Evidence is right there. Believe it or don’t.”
“From now on, our families have nothing to do with each other!”
With that, I took my mother’s arm and we walked out, leaving Lily scrambling to explain herself.

In my past life, she’d hidden this secret perfectly. Until I accidentally found her videos online. Lily was so scared I’d expose her that she convinced Gabriel to elope with her. But when I exposed them instead, the family had her executed for betrayal.
After she died, Gabriel blamed everything on me and labeled me the the town slut-like I’d spread my legs for anyone who asked..
Back home, I treated my mother’s scraped knees, tears streaming down my face.
“I’m so sorry, Mom. This is all my fault…”
Mother touched my head gently. “Autumn, as long as you’re safe, I’m okay.”
I wiped my tears and dialed a number.
“That deal you mentioned? I accept.”
After getting my mother settled, I was just dozing off on the couch when the front door got kicked in.
Someone grabbed me and dragged me back to the Blackwood mansion.
“You’ve got some nerve, trying to fool me with fake test results.”
A bucket of ice water drenched me completely, making me shiver uncontrollably.
He pressed his boot into my back, grinding down hard.
“Lily tried to kill herself over your little stunt. Lucky for you she’s okay, or I’d make this life even worse than your last one.”
He leaned down to whisper in my ear.
Remembering the agony of being torn apart by lions in my past life, I couldn’t help but shudder.
Seeing my reaction, he threw me hard to the ground, sneering.
“You’re lucky Lily’s sleeping right now. You can kneel here all night as punishment.”
The cold night wind cut through me, making my head throb and my whole body go stiff.
As my consciousness started to fade, I clenched my fists tight, trying to comfort myself.
Just hold on a little longer. He’ll be here soon.
