The office door burst open as Sebastian and Edmund strode in.
The HR manager instantly moved to my side. “What the hell do you think you’re doing?”
Sebastian ignored her completely and dramatically dropped to his knees in front of me.
“Anastasia! I’m begging you–please spare the company! You’ve been playing house for three years while the market has completely transformed. You’ll destroy everything and hurt everyone who works here!”
The livestreamers pushed forward eagerly, jockeying for the best angles to capture the scene on their phones.
Employees gathered in the hallway, peering in with uncertain expressions.
The HR manager anxiously held up her phone to show me the livestream comments, where viewer numbers were skyrocketing.
[What’s happening? This housewife disappears for three years and suddenly wants to be CEO?]

Sebastian’s eyes reddened as he clutched his chest dramatically.
‘Anastasia! I’ve neglected you these past years because of work–I don’t blame you for sleeping with your ex. I’m willing to let you go.
You can have the house, the savings, everything–but not the company. Over a hundred people depend on these jobs. Think about

Edmund, standing off to the side, spoke up with noble resignation. “Anastasia, I don’t need anything but you.”

Edmund stared at me in shock before slowly sinking to his knees. “Anastasia, please stop being difficult. Come with me!”
His gesture triggered another wave of vicious comments.

The HR manager glanced at me worriedly. I gave her a reassuring nod.
She didn’t understand but stood firmly by my side.
Suddenly Claire pushed her way through the crowd, face made up to look dramatically pale and exhausted.
The moment she appeared on camera, she slapped herself twice. “I was wrong! I was so wrong!”
‘Anastasia, I never knew you were this kind of person! That night you told me to tell Sebastian you were at my place, but you were actually with Edmund!”
‘I helped you cover up, and how did you repay me? By firing me because you were scared I’d tell Sebastian the truth!”
‘My conscience can’t take it anymore! Please–leave the company alone, leave Sebastian alone, leave me alone!”
Claire sobbed dramatically, and the comments section exploded.

Sebastian raised his head, face full of manufactured sincerity. “Anastasia, don’t worry. Even after our divorce, I’ll support you inancially if you need it. You’ll never have to worry about money.”
And if you want to work, I’ll keep a position open for you at the company.”

The staff watching from the doorway grew restless.
Sebastian turned to address them, making a calming gesture with his hands, every inch the self–important executive:
“Everyone stay calm. Ms. Sterling will transfer the company to me shortly, and then everything will continue as before.”
The HR manager looked at me in disbelief.
I rolled my eyes and glanced at my watch. It should be about time.
Standing up, I addressed both the employees and the livestream audience:
“I never agreed to transfer anything. This company was left to me by my parents, and it belongs to me alone. Nobody else is getting their hands on it.”
