Seeing him so serious, I suddenly felt a little nervous:

“You’re not going to break up with me, are you?”

He immediately shook his head like a bobblehead:

“How could I?! You have no idea how happy I am to be with you. How could I ever leave you?”

I sighed in relief:

“Then it’s nothing major. I can handle it. Go on.”

Julian’s gaze softened:

“Actually… I’ve liked you for a very long time… But back then, your heart only had room for that bastard Trevor. So I thought, even if I could only watch you from afar, as long as you were happy, it would be worth it. So when I found out Trevor had slandered me, my first

thought was that I absolutely couldn’t expose him…”

My whole body began to tremble uncontrollably.

I almost instantly guessed why he’d willingly endured all of it.

It was… it was all for me.

Back then, I was deeply in love with Trevor. If Julian had revealed the truth, Trevor would surely have been affected.

And I would have been heartbroken beyond measure. So, just to keep me happy, he willingly endured being ridiculed and humiliated.

I slowly caressed his cheek, a tear trailing down my own:

“Why are you so foolish? What’s so great about me that you’d sacrifice so much…”

He gripped my hand firmly, his eyes misting over:

“When I first came to the Davis family, I used to cry secretly in my bed almost every night. It was you who comforted me and slipped me candy. And when I was shy and thought everyone was picking on me, you were the one who stood up for me, who helped me put them in their place. Daisy, you’re an angel to me… a sacred, untouchable being. I never

dared to dream you’d ever accept me…”

See?

That’s how big the difference between people can be.

I only helped him a few times, and he was willing to give me his entire life.

But for Trevor, I gave almost everything, only to raise a complete snake.

Thinking of this, I couldn’t stay calm anymore. I buried my face in his chest, clinging to

him:

“You mean you’re only telling me all this *now*?! I’m going to punish you!”

He sounded a little nervous:

“As long as you don’t leave me, I’ll do anything… You can hit me, yell at me, whatever…”

I couldn’t help but burst out laughing:

“I’m going to punish you by making you stay with me forever!”

He froze for a second, then his face broke into an ecstatic grin:

“Yes, ma’am!”

Our lives together became increasingly blissful.

Meanwhile, Trevor found himself completely stuck.

After dropping out, he had no choice but to repeat his final year. But this time, I wasn’t there to help him find a school or plan his admissions strategy.

He got tricked into enrolling in some strict, military-style boarding school, full of troubled teens and kids with terrible grades.

At first, he tried to act all high and mighty, but by that same afternoon, he was cornered in the bathroom and beaten until he was spitting blood.

When had he ever suffered such humiliation?

As soon as he recovered slightly, he snuck out of the hospital, desperate to see me.

But Julian and I were already off vacationing in the Caribbean. Why would I have time for

him?

On our way back home after the vacation, a wild-looking figure suddenly leaped out of

the bushes.

It startled me so much I almost jumped out of my skin.

The driver pulled over for a closer look. Wasn’t that Trevor?

He’d really let himself go in just a few days.

Wait, and wasn’t that Chloe, looking just as disheveled, beside him?

Chloe’s eyes were full of tears, clutching desperately at his sleeve:

“You can’t do this to me! You promised to be good to me forever!”

Trevor violently shook her off:

“I’ve promised a lot of things! Am I supposed to keep track of every single one? Look at yourself! You can’t give me anything now. What use are you to me?”

Chloe was thrown to the side of the road, her knees scraping against the pavement, drawing blood.

But she ignored the pain, staring at Trevor in disbelief:

“Did you… did you lie about everything you said before?”

Trevor scoffed:

“Back then, I had money and time, and you were practically throwing yourself at me. So I picked you. Did you honestly think I liked* you? I just figured you had decent looks, that’s

all.”

I frowned.

How was Trevor becoming even more shameless?

He’s an animal.

I was about to tell the driver to keep going, but Trevor had noticed the car.

He sprinted a few steps, catching up, his face lighting up with frantic excitement:

“Daisy! You’re finally back! I’ve been waiting for you all this time, I missed you so much! I know I messed up, I was so ungrateful before. But now I understand that you’re the only one I truly love. Please, give me another chance.”
