The nurse hesitated, then silently left.
The ward had only been quiet for a short while when the phone rang.
Emily groped for it and answered. A strong, old voice came from the other end:
“Little girl, it’s Grandpa.”
Emily was startled.
In her diary, this old man of the Smith family seemed to be the only elder who was kind to her.
“My little lycan wolf, I know what’s been going on,” Grandpa Smith’s voice was kind but also full of heartache.”You’ve suffered. Since Simon bonded with you, he must treat you well as his mate. Don’t worry, Grandpa will stand up for you.”
This was the first time since her amnesia that Emily felt genuine care and love.
Her nose twitched, and she almost cried.”No need, Grandpa, I’m fine.”
“You always makes me worry,” Grandpa Smith sighed.”You’re clearly the future lycan Queen, but you suffered so much after being kidnapped. Your parents didn’t care about you, instead favoring that adopted omega. And Simon…”
“All these years you’ve done so much for him. He disliked your former title of ‘future lycan Queen,’ so you bound your wolf, preferring to be a wolfless ordinary werewolf;
he liked that set of rare teaware, and you searched across dozens of Packs to find it;
when he was hospitalized for internal bleeding, you fed him your lycan blood and took care of him tirelessly for three days and nights;
when his mother passed away, you handled the funeral arrangements… yet he treated you so coldly, unable to show his true feelings. He’ll regret it!”
Emily stared blankly at the white ceiling.
She didn’t remember these things, but just listening to them made her heart ache.
“Alright, Grandpa has to go for a health checkup,” the old man said finally. “Remember, if you have any trouble, come to Grandpa for help.”
Not long after the call ended, the ward door was flung open.
Simon stood at the doorway, impeccably dressed, his eyes icy.
“First, you have an allergy attack and become wolfless, and then you seek Grandpa’s help. Emily, how much longer are you going to keep causing trouble just to win me over?”
Emily wanted to explain, but looking at his sarcastic gaze, she could only say softly, “I didn’t have an allergic reaction on purpose. I forgot I’m allergic to peanuts.”
“Forgot you’re allergic to peanuts?” Simon sneered.”Why don’t you say you forgot who you are?”
Emily looked at him quietly.
Yes, she had bound her wolf 108 times for him, she had even forgotten who she was.
She forgot the humble Emily who loved him, forgot the heartbreaking despair of those years, and forgot… the love she once felt for him deep in
her bones.
But she didn’t say a word.
Perhaps pressured by Grandpa, Simon reluctantly stayed to “take care” of her.
It wasn’t care, but another form of torment.
He ignored the blood returning to her IV line, he was indifferent when she burned her hand with hot water, even when she had difficulty breathing and pressed the call button for help, he only focused on calling his assistant: “Has Clara’s burn been treated?…Mm, send over the best
scar removal cream.”
The most ridiculous thing was that even though she no longer loved him, Emily still felt suffocated.
She couldn’t imagine how the Emily who had once loved Simon so much had endured the torment of those countless nights and days.
The leaves fell outside the window. She suddenly remembered the last entry in her diary:

[If one day I no longer love you, it means my heart is dead]
Thinking back now, the Emily who wrote those words had probably already died in countless ignored nights.
