“But isn’t being a Beta’s deputy a bit… much?”

Emily’s fingers holding her phone trembled slightly, the wheels of her suitcase clicking against the airport floor tiles.

Zoe’s cheerful laughter came from the other end of the phone. “Why would you think that’s too much? Emily, have you forgotten when you were the future lycan Queen in the Royal Pack, commanding armies and fighting Rogue wolves?

Even the Head Warrior praised your plans incessantly.”

After a pause, her tone suddenly turned serious.”I’ve always been optimistic about you, but back then… you only had eyes for Simon.”

This sentence was like a fine needle, gently pricking a corner of Emily’s heart that she didn’t want to touch.

Leaning against a pillar in the airport, watching the hurried passengers, memories surged.

The Emily of the past had indeed been the undisputed future lycan Queen, with a dazzling future and countless lycans vying to be her mate.

She could have built her own Royal Pack.

This was a dream she had once held dear.

But after falling in love with Simon, she almost without hesitation gave up all opportunities, repeatedly binding her wolf to become wolfless, wholeheartedly wanting to be a dutiful Luna.

She loved him, so she willingly abandoned her dreams.

But it turned out that everything was a mistake.

His heart belonged to someone else, so no matter how much she gave, it was insignificant in his eyes.

“Emily, you’ve been trapped in that bonding for too long.”

Zoe’s voice was full of heartache.”When I attended that banquet, seeing your state… I knew you shouldn’t be like that.”

Emily bit her lip, her nails digging deep into her palm.

The details she had deliberately ignored were already clear as day to others.

She heard her hoarse voice:”So all these years, you’ve been trying to get me into Moonland Pack?”

“Of course!”

Zoe raised her voice.”Your personal skills and management talent would shine in Moonland Pack. Before, you were so focused on your mate, I

you can’t refuse me!” didn’t have the heart to shatter your illusions. Now it’s fine, you’re finally free! So

Free.

This unfamiliar word hit Emily’s heart heavily.

It felt like a distant concept to her.

Emily recalled a friend’s description of her past self-bindings.

She still found it shocking.

Someone would actually be willing to bind their wolf, suppressing their nature, for someone else.

She understood.

But thankfully, it was over now.

She looked up at the bright sunshine outside the airport, feeling her chest clear for the first time in three years.

Her phone vibrated with a new message, an address from Zoe, along with a voice note: “It’s my own house, feel free to stay. It’s fully furnished. Just bring your bags!

Shall I pick you up tomorrow to get acquainted with the surroundings?”

“No need, I’ll go directly to the Pack Center, tomorrow.”

Emily suddenly smiled, her voice carrying a long-lost sharpness.

“I’ll prepare my documents. I need to familiarize myself with the procedures as soon as possible, Beta Zoe.”

The moment she hung up, Emily felt a sudden lightness in her body.

She pulled her suitcase towards the taxi rank, her fingertip tracing the address location on her phone screen.

As the taxi started, she received Zoe’s last message:”Welcome! My Beta deputy.”

Looking at the rapidly receding streets outside the car window, Emily opened her phone’s photo album and deleted all the photos related to

Simon.

When the last bonding photo disappeared from the screen, she let out a long breath and put her phone back in her bag.

Ahead, tall trees stood on the side of the road.

Emily’s heart was suddenly filled with anticipation for the future.

She also bid farewell to her past self. Now, she was going to become the confident and spirited woman she once was.

As for Simon, he was merely an old landscape in her life that should have been turned over long ago.
