Chapter 9

I contacted the search and rescue team again.

The brothers of the rescue team had already met me and sighed in unison when they saw me.

“Ms. Castillo, they said they couldn’t find anyone. It’s been such a long time, they definitely won’t find them!”

I casually nodded and said, “Just go through the motions, the person is not really missing. Just look around casually, I will still pay.”

The search team looked for three days, but they didn’t even find a single hair of John’s.

Nancy was on the verge of a breakdown, crying almost every day.

I looked at her appearance, without a trace of sympathy.

It was because of her idea that I cried for three months and felt completely hopeless.

Is it her turn now? Can she not handle it after just a few days?

On the fourth night.

John suddenly appeared.

He rushed up and hugged me, his voice choked up: “Wennie, I knew you still loved me!”

“Otherwise, it would have been impossible to hear that I had gone missing and come running from far away to look for me for three days and three nights.”

“I really knew I was wrong!”

“It was Nancy’s bad idea in the first place, and now I’ve made sure she can’t find me either.”

“You shouldn’t have come, then I could have hidden for a little longer, let her truly feel the pain you caused in the be- ginning. But now that you’re here, I’m even happier.”

He had just finished speaking when he was forcefully pulled down by Harvey.

“John, stay away from my girlfriend!”

John lay on the ground, watching Harvey carry me into his arms, his eyes filled with rage.

“What about your girlfriend? Wennie is my wife! Uncle Harvey! You are my uncle!”

Harvey looked down on him and sneered coldly.

“Did you forget? You were just the Sullivan family’s foster child who was kicked out.”

John got up and rushed over swinging his fists. I opened my arms to shield Harvey, who was so scared that his face turned pale.

Luckily, John’s fist stopped in time.

“Wennie! Who told you to stand in front of me? Are you crazy?”

I put on a pleasing expression to Harvey’s angry face and said, “You can criticize me later, I’ll deal with John first.”

Harvey forcibly suppressed his anger.

I looked towards the corner and said, “Come out.”

Nancy walked out with tears streaming down her face, she stared at John, the love in her eyes completely gone.

I said coldly, “John, do you find it amusing to toy with the people who care about you time and time again?”

“Are you happy watching us break down time after time?”

“If Nancy hadn’t begged me, even if you really died, I wouldn’t have looked back!”

John’s face was full of pain as he looked at me, his lips trembling.

“Did she go to beg you? So you didn’t come this time because you were worried about me? You came because such a despicable woman begged you?”

I heard his words, anger surged within me, and suddenly I slapped him.

“You are such a scumbag!”

“No matter how bad Nancy was, she truly loved you. Why do you have to slander her like this?”

I looked at Nancy and said, “You two handle your own affairs from now on. Don’t show up in front of me again. I get annoyed every time I see you.”

After saying that, I took Harvey back to the hotel.

On the way, Harvey launched a harsh criticism against me for blocking him in front of him, and ended with me ad- mitting my mistake.

Our relationship quickly heated up, with Harvey seeming to be in a rush. He proposed to me on our one-year anniver- sary of dating, and then immediately began tirelessly preparing for the wedding.

Everything was done by him personally, I had no idea, and only found out that I was getting married when it came time to try on wedding dresses.

At the wedding, Harvey invited John and Nancy.

At that moment, I finally knew what had happened after they two were left facing each other on the snowy mountain.

Out of love turned to hate, Nancy confronted John and, in a fit of anger and shame, pushed him off the cliff.

This time, John really ended up just like he had lied about, breaking several bones and needing to use a wheelchair for the rest of his life.

While Nancy took care of John, John was getting thinner and more haggard day by day.

These two people tortured each other for a lifetime.

My gaze lingered on John’s legs, and Harvey forcefully turned my face and kissed me hard on the lips.

“What are you looking at? I’m getting jealous!”

I smiled, squinting my eyes, and kissed him back.

“Don’t be jealous, you are in my eyes and in my heart!”

The end.
