Chapter 27
Alpha Kodak
While on the phone, I didn’t want Luna Lovette to hang up because of the connection I felt with my pup, but she was not willing to oblige.
Just as she was about to share something I hoped would be positive, I heard from her beta that Zeeva had arrived at her pack.
Concerned that Zeeva might cause trouble, I advised against Luna Lovette seeing her, but she was too stubborn.
“Raul, get the chopper ready. I need to be at the Silver pack right away,” I instructed my beta after Luna Lovette abruptly ended the call.
“Alpha, is there a war?” Raul asked with a worried expression. I felt like I might be overreacting, but I was disturbed at the thought of something happening to my pup.
“There’s no war, but Zeeva is at the Silver pack,” I disclosed, noticing his concern.
“Alpha, should I fly you there?” he asked earnestly, but I declined. It seemed excessive to mobilize an army for just one she- wolf.
“I can handle it. It’s probably related to the invitation letter,” I remarked as I boarded the chopper. Raul followed me, and before taking off, I instructed him,
“If I need to stay longer, have someone fly the chopper back to the pack and bring me a car.”
Luna Lovette had a different taste in cars than I did, so her range of cars was not to my liking.
However, upon arriving at the Silver pack, I realized the situation wasn’t as serious as I had feared. There were some rumors circulating, but overall, everything seemed to be in order.
Upon hearing Luna Lovette apologize to Zeeva as I approached the pack house, I felt a strange sense of unease. I had Cassius escort Zeeva out, noting her solitary presence, perhaps due to shame.
I no longer harbored guilt for what her father had done to me; all I desired was solitude. Was that too much to ask for?
After Luna Lovette mentioned her need for rest, I, someone who struggled with sleep, was surprised at how quickly my body acquiesced to her words.
I lifted her in my arms, determined to carry her to her room despite any objections.
Having accessed my own room and even the rare privilege of sleeping there, I found Luna Lovette reluctant to allow me into hers.
Her proximity stirred unfamiliar sensations within me, leaving me bewildered by the emotions coursing through me.
While it is common for a bond to form between a pup and their parents, in our case, I couldn’t discern if there was something more, as my feelings for Zeeva were equally profound.
Strangely, I did not experience the same connection in Luna Lovette’s presence, prompting me to question the nature of our relationship.
Gently placing her on the bed, exhaustion overcame me, and knowing she would object if I asked, I settled beside her, succumbing to sleep.
It seemed I was not the only one plagued by restlessness, as I found solace in slumber beside her, unaware of the passage of

time until a knock at the door roused me.
This was the first time we slept on the same bed, though there was nothing intimate between us.
Shock coursed through me as I realized the extent of my slumber. If Raul were to discover this, he would surely jest at my expense. This was a detail I intended to keep to myself.
The notion of the Alpha of the Silent Claw pack sleeping for fourteen hours, a first in his life, was a rare concern that lingered in my thoughts.
“Alpha, it’s time for training.” Cassius reminded me, prompting me to recall my commitment to join them for training.
Both Luna Lovette and I had been asleep for a long time, and I wouldn’t have woken up if it weren’t for Cassius.
A strange smile appeared on his lips when he saw Luna Lovette on the bed, and I soon understood why.
“She hasn’t slept like this since she found out about the pregnancy,” Cassius revealed.
I was taken aback by this information and couldn’t help but ask, “Are you sure about what you’re saying?”
He smiled and handed me a bag containing training clothes, which were new.
“Alpha, maybe we can talk on the way. She won’t be happy to hear me talking about her,” Cassius whispered. I shook my head, unsure why I was so interested in learning more about her.
“Just give me a moment to change, and I’ll come with you,” I replied. Cassius was open-minded, and we had a lot of conversations on our way to their pack gym.
The gym was located far from the pack, so everyone had to warm up before arriving there by walking or jogging.
Since Luna Lovette had already introduced me to the pack, we got straight to business.
As I recalled my contract with Lovette, I hesitated about teaching her warriors my techniques so easily. We had something in common, but we were also likely to part ways in the future.
“Group A, assume the attack position,” I announced after they grasped the new moves I had introduced. I decided to be generous, hoping it wouldn’t backfire on me.
The warriors were focused and picked up the moves quickly. “Well done,” I praised them. “Now, concentrate on building strength,” I instructed.
Strong warriors would make learning and practicing the moves much more enjoyable.
“Thank you for training with us, Alpha,” Cassius expressed on behalf of the warriors, who were clearly excited.
I felt uneasy around the she-wolves because of how they stared at my abs.
I knew my body structure was different, but those looks made me so uncomfortable that all I wanted to do was escape.
However, I was grateful for Embry, understanding why she was Lovette’s best friend and Cassius’s sister.
“Stop staring at the Alpha. He’s our Luna’s man,” she said seriously, and their wanting gazes changed to ones of shame.
Gratitude filled my heart as she and Cassius walked me back to the pack house.
Upon reaching there, Luna Lovette was still asleep, so I went to shower and got dressed in one of the clothes Cassius bought for me before waking her.
“Love, you’ve been asleep for almost twenty-four hours.”

Remembering all that Cassius told me about her difficulty with sleeping, I felt guilty waking her, but she had to feed as well.
“I didn’t want to wake you, but you have to eat. Also, Alpha Dolphus and his Luna have sent another invitation after receiving ours. The invitation is directly addressed to you and me, so we have to attend their son’s coronation,” I explained to Luna Lovette, who woke up looking confused.
She appeared even more beautiful than I had ever seen her. What happened during her sleep? Was it just the rest or was it the pregnancy glow?
“How much time do we have?” she asked, pulling me out of my thoughts.
“A few hours,” I responded casually, unable to take my eyes off her. Deep down, I hoped our pup would be a she-wolf to carry such beauty, elegance, and intelligence.
“I will get ready.” She lifted herself slowly from the bed, about to dash to the shower room when I stopped her.
“You have to eat first, but Cassius told me not to disturb you because you haven’t been sleeping well. How is that?”
I phrased it that way to avoid provoking her anger towards her beta, but she seemed reluctant to tell me about whatever ailed her.
“We shall be late for the wedding,” she said seriously. I decided to let her off.
We can pick up this topic again after our return or even in the car.
“Alright, eat.”
We had breakfast together in a strangely peaceful way, after which I allowed her to go shower, realizing it was more peaceful when I spoke less or asked few questions.
Not having put on any pregnancy weight, she looked stunning in that wine dress, and I was eager to see her bump, hoping it would appear soon.
“You are going to steal the spotlight looking like that, but there is nothing you can do about it,” I said, noticing the confusion on her face.
If someone like me couldn’t keep my eyes off her, then who would? “Is that a compliment?” she asked with a small smile as I offered my arm to her.
She hesitated but eventually hooked hers onto mine.
Cassius and Embry were a handful, but Cassius was leaving for the Silent Claw pack in a different vehicle, having arranged for the chopper to be sent back.
He was very efficient, much like Raul, and being around him made me feel comfortable, reminiscent of my interactions with Raul.
“I will see you both upon your return,” he said, a smile tugging at the corner of his lips.
I smiled back and turned to Embry. “The pack is in your hands.” “And it’s safe too,” she assured us.
Beta Raul arrived at the venue before us and met us at the car park instead of any representative of the host, wearing a somber expression.
“Alpha, you should check the trending news.” Why did I have a sinking feeling that this was not going to be good?
