I watched Stella’s panicked, desperate expression with cold satisfaction, finally feeling some relief from the suffocating hatred in my chest.
I walked calmly to her side, looking down at her with mockery.
“Stella Rivers, remember when you arrogantly invaded my pack and killed my Ember? How does it feel to get your karma?”
“Tell me, if Adrian dies, what do you think will happen you…”
“Will you die alone and forgotten… or will you be buried alive with him?”
Stella looked up at me with venomous hatred. “Shut up! Adrian will be fine, absolutely! I am the Luna! Forever and always!”
“Just wait and see on the fifteenth, Adrian will marry me in grand ceremony!”

“You’re a noble blood, so what? Once I became the Luna Queen, you’ll still have to bow and pay respects to me daily!”
I laughed coldly.
“I’ll be waiting for that day. Don’t disappoint me!”
I turned to leave, Stella muttering curses behind me that I neither heard nor cared about.
Outside, Kai had witnessed everything. Though he didn’t understand why I harbored such deep hatred for Adrian and Stella, he suppressed his curiosity and stayed silently by my side without asking unnecessary questions.
The mating ceremony approached day by day, but the palace never announced Adrian’s recovery.
Outsiders speculated wildly, all saying the future Alpha King was dying. The pack daughters who’d once envied Stella now mocked her misfortune, calling her cursed.
Stella cried daily, even seeking out witches to perform ritual healings for Adrian.
But it was useless.
On the mating ceremony day
Officials and nobles gathered, all there to witness the ceremony.
The palace was decorated entirely in gold characters, festive but permeated with the heavy scent of medicinal herbs.
Stella stood alone before Adrian’s bed in her mating gown.
Adrian had been dressed in mating robes too, but his eyes remained tightly shut, showing no signs of life.
The gathered witnesses couldn’t help whispering among themselves.
“The pack healers declared long ago that the future Alpha King wouldn’t survive, but Stella refuses to accept reality. She seems truly devoted to him!”
“What devotion? She’s just greedy for the Luna position. If she truly loved him, why would she ignore his serious condition and insist on today’s ceremony?”
“I heard the Alpha King wanted to cancel the wedding, but Stella desperately claimed she could cure the future Alpha King and get him healthy for the ceremony. Look at him now – there’s not a sign of consciousness…”
The Alpha King cleared his throat and addressed the room.
“Stella Rivers, the auspicious time has arrived, but Adrian remains unconscious. Today’s ceremony is canceled. Everyone may go home!”
“No!”
“Please, Alpha King, have mercy and wait just a little longer. Adrian will wake up!”
Stella desperately bit her lip, her eyes stubborn and defiant.
The Alpha King frowned deeply. “I’ve been more than patient with you. Accept reality now…”
