The next second, Alejandro ended the call.
Before hanging up, he simply said, “We’ll talk later.”
Concetta gripped her phone tightly, her expression calm as she gazed out at the glittering skyline of San Jose.
The streets were bustling with traffic and dazzling lights, appearing so mesmerizing.
And Alejandro owned billions of assets, wielding enormous power in the city.
However, he just had no patience at all for her.
Six years had passed since they tied the knot, yet he still remained as cold and distant to her as ever.
His gentle eyes on her always carried a hint of indifference.
Over the years, she’d been trying to win his heart.
But today, she suddenly felt tired of it.
Concetta didn’t call back. Instead, she directly fell asleep.
The next day, Alejandro finally sent two messages to her.”Sorry, happy third anniversary.”
“This is compensation.”
Then, she got a bank notification, saying she had just received a seven-digit money transfer.
She slid that message to the side.
Just then, a notification popped up. Sharon updated a new post on her social media.
“Diamond ring. Custom-made in Paris, France, for eight months. Only once in a lifetime. Thank you, Alec.”
Sharon smiled charmingly in the photo, and there was a diamond ring sparkling on her fair finger.
She stood under the high tower in a rose-red skirt, exuding a special sense of luxury and charm.
What a great gift to Sharon.
Concetta suddenly remembered a scene that happened before she married Alejandro.
In a quiet and simple old mansion, Alejandro walked through the hallway. He could easily see through her fantasies with his calm
eyes.
He told her, “I will marry you. But that’s it.”
She used to think that the sentence “I only want a lot of love, not a lot of money” was too sentimental and dramatic in real life.
But at this moment, she suddenly felt she was wrong.
All these six years, all she wanted was Alejandro’s love, but she had never obtained it.
Concetta suppressed all the emotions in her heart and went downstairs alone.
Lynne’s innocent voice rang out in the garden with a hint of complaint.”Why did Mom come back? Auntie Sharon promised to take us to the concert hall to see the Little Bear dance today. But now we can’t go… Oh, if only Mom never came back…”
“Yeah. Dad definitely likes Auntie Sharon more. Uncle said Dad only married Mom because he couldn’t marry Auntie Sharon. Even though Mom is pretty too, I still like Auntie Sharon more…” Hyman said with a face of disappointment.
Those words pained Concetta.
She repeated those words in her heart, “Because he couldn’t marry Sharon?”
She snapped out of shock, her heart going from numb to bewildered.

She had a difficult birth when she gave birth to them, with a lot of bleeding. She almost died on the operating table.
The two kids were weak, so Concetta took care of them wholeheartedly around the clock, which led to her falling ill.
Later, something happened to the Calderon family in San Jose.
Alejandro’s grandpa was seriously ill.
Alejandro returned to San Jose and took the two kids with him.
In recent years, Concetta had been shuttling between two cities, but her two kids grew more and more distant from her.
Concetta returned to the room in a daze.
The two kids still had private classes to attend, so the nanny sent them off.
Concetta still managed to make time to call Alejandro again.
She was Alejandro’s wife.
It was only natural for her to ask about the things between her kids and Sharon.
But unexpectedly, Alejandro simply said, “I have something important to do. We’ll talk about it tomorrow night.”
Concetta felt a strong sense of bitterness in her heart.
She went out and unconsciously arrived at the church where she first met Alejandro.
It was very small.
As soon as Concetta entered the solemn and dignified church, she heard her daughter’s sweet and innocent words.
“Auntie Sharon, will it really come true?”
“Of course.”
Concetta looked over.
Not far away, Sharon and Alejandro were holding hands with Lynne and Hyman respectively.
The four of them really looked like a happy family, praying together in church.
