Chapter 3
Time passed quickly. She heard the children say, “We wish Auntie Sharon and Dad health and happiness forever!”
Sharon smiled.”Aren’t you going to pray for your mom?”
“Mom’s bad! She always picks on you. The gods won’t bless her!”
Concetta felt her blood run cold.
She watched silently as her husband Alejandro and their two children prayed for Sharon at the church entrance.
That was the man she’d loved for six years and the children of her flesh and blood.
Concetta suddenly stood up and walked away without looking back.
Six years of waiting and six years of hoping he’d change….
Yet here he was, showering blessings on another woman in the church.
Her persistence had only brought humiliation.
Back at the old mansion, Concetta packed all her belongings.
Later, she sent Alejandro one final message, “Let’s divorce, Alec.”
Placing her wedding ring on the bedside table, she took a taxi to the airport.
As Alejandro left the church with the children, he decided to go home.
Outside, visitors were coming and going. Suddenly, his phone buzzed.
Before he could check it, shouts erupted.
“Stop that thief!”
Shouts were continuous.
The bodyguard was about to protect Alejandro, but Sharon was pushed straight into his arms.
His phone fell, shattered under the crowd’s feet.
“Alejandro, sorry. Your phone…”
Alejandro frowned and said flatly, “It’s fine. I’ll replace it.”
Most calls were from family.
His family barely texted him, only Concetta occasionally sending him a message.
However, she was never important.
On the way back, the two kids were excited.
His daughter, Lynne Calderon, tugged at his sleeve.”Daddy, is Auntie Sharon really coming to stay with us in a few days? She promised to take me to Candyland.”
Even Hyman Calderon looked hopeful.
“Sure.” Alejandro nodded.
Hyman, however, looked worried.”But Daddy … Mommy said Candyland smells bad and it’s bad for our fragile health. She won’t let us go. Will Mommy stop us? And … won’t Mommy be upset if she knows Auntie Sharon is staying at our house?”
Alejandro reassured them gently.”Auntie Sharon has medical knowledge. She saved my life once. With her here, you’ll be fine. Your mother won’t be staying long anyway. Auntie Sharon is just visiting temporarily to help take care of you.”
The children’s health was fragile. Having Sharon’s help would be good for them.
“Hooray!”

The children cheered all the way home.
Arriving home, they discovered something even more exciting.
Their mother had gone back to Miami.
Alejandro was surprised to see the wedding ring on the bedside table.
After their marriage, no matter how much they argued, Concetta had never taken it off.
This sudden departure, leaving the ring behind…
“Is she throwing a tantrum because she felt neglected?” he thought.
Concetta used to be gentle and compliant, embodying the traditional reserve common in Miami.
No matter how coldly he treated her, she had never gotten angry.
That was rare.
“Even a worm will turn,” Alejandro thought.
He didn’t dwell on it.

He casually tossed the ring aside. “My wife won’t be back for a while. Pack away her things and clean this room. Ms. Mcintosh will be staying here in a couple of days.”
