Betty had caught a cold in the past couple of days.
On Saturday morning, after Celeste visited Isabelle, she drove to the hospital to visit Martha.
When she arrived, both Trevor and Jordyn were there.
Martha was in better spirits than when she had just woken up. When she saw Celeste, a smile immediately appeared on her face.
While Celeste chatted with Martha, Trevor didn’t interrupt them. He poured Celeste a glass of water and then quietly sat to the side, peeling apples for both Jordyn and Celeste.
When he finished peeling and cutting the apples into small pieces, placing them on a small plate, and handing it to her, Celeste had no choice but to accept it and said, “Thank you.

Martha looked at Trevor and said, “There’s someone here to take care of my meals. Cel has been visiting me every day during my stay in the hospital. Trevor, you should invite her out for a meal”
Celeste was just about to decline when Martha gently patted her hand, shook her head, and said, “I don’t mean anything by it.” As she spoke, she also glanced at Trevor–the implication being that she truly wasn’t trying to set them up.
In fact, just like Miles, she had come to realize that ever since the two had decided to get divorced, they were actually getting along more harmoniously. 4
