Chapter 1033
Shaun felt his chest fill up in the best way. No matter how busy he was outside, coming home to his pregnant fiancée was everything. Happiness felt real here.
This was all anyone could really want in life.
He wrapped his arms around Halsey and rested his big hand on her round belly,
“You’re almost six months now. This is when it starts getting tough. Try to get to bed earlier, okay? I’ll do my best to come home sooner.”
Tonight, he’d made it back by 8 PM, which wasn’t late at all. But usually, he was home around 6 PM, already in the kitchen cooking dinner.
Halsey smiled, lips curving up. “You’ve had a long day, too. Go on upstairs and take a shower.”
“You’re coming with me,” Shaun said.
She held up her sketch pencil. “Let me just finish this design first, then I’ll come up.”
He looked at her half–done drawing, nodded, and said, “Alright. I’ll go ahead and shower first.”
Then, he headed upstairs.
Just then, Jocelyn walked to Halsey, carrying a little bowl. “I brought you some lobster bisque.”
Halsey took it. “Thanks.”
Jocelyn hesitated before saying carefully, “You still haven’t told Mr. Lane about Ms. Fletcher staying over.

Halsey glanced up. “Why are you bringing that up now?”
Lowering her voice, Jocelyn leaned closer.
“I just thought I should warn you. Ms. Fletcher’s still a student–she’s pretty with a nice figure. Since you
brought her into the house, she’ll be around Mr. Lane all the time. If nothing happens, great. But if
something does…then what? I’m not saying Mr. Lane isn’t trustworthy. It’s just… I’ve worked in enough
rich families to know people can surprise you. Not always in a good way.”
Halsey knew Jocelyn wasn’t being nosy and was genuinely looking out for her.
She smiled faintly. “Don’t worry. I’ve already thought about all of that.”
“Then why not warn Mr. Lane?” Jocelyn asked, surprised.
“Because saying something too soon only tips people off,” Halsey replied calmly. “I’d rather wait and see what someone’s really trying to do.”

Upstairs, Sierra was in her guest room. It was already 8 PM. Technically, she should’ve been asleep, but
she wasn’t.
She knew Shaun was home.
She had watched from her window when his sleek car pulled into the driveway. Then she saw him go upstairs alone, while Halsey stayed downstairs working on her design.
Sierra had been waiting for this moment. And now, it was finally here.
She stood in front of the mirror. Earlier, she had spent an hour soaking in a milk–and–rose–petal bath. The
guest room might not be the master suite, but it was still extremely luxurious. She had made sure every
inch of her smelled sweet and looked smooth.
Now, she was wearing a silk nightgown, which draped over her curves. Her hair fell perfectly over her shoulders, and she had a soft, innocent look on her face.
She knew exactly what she was doing. For a man, this was the ultimate temptation.
Her chance had come, and she wasn’t wasting it.
Sierra slipped out of her room and stopped in front of the main bedroom–Shaun and Halsey’s room.
She knocked lightly. No answer.
Her hand curled around the doorknob, and she pushed the door open. The bedroom was empty, but the sound of running water filled the air.
Shaun was in the shower.
Sierra’s heart pounded so hard that it almost hurt. This was perfect! Halsey was downstairs, and Shaun was in the shower.
She adjusted her nightgown, smoothed her hair, and then knocked gently on the bathroom door.
