“Kiss me.”
Her whole body froze at Alex’s words.

“What? No!” She blurted out immediately, her feet already twitching to run. But Alex wasn’t giving her the chance…. he stood firmly by the door, his broad shoulders blocking her escape.
Her palms grew sweaty, and her heart drummed so hard she swore he could hear it.
“What are you afraid of then? Kiss me,” Alex repeated, his tone calm, steady… but his eyes burned into her, almost daring her.
Mia’s hands balled into fists at her sides. “What is that supposed to prove?” she snapped, her nerves spiking every second she was stuck in this closed space with him.
“It will prove everything to me,” he said simply. His voice wasn’t raised, but the way he said it carried too much weight, too much truth.
Her throat went dry.
“Mia,” Alex called softly again, dragging out her name the way he always did. The way he used to call her when it was just them, years ago. Her knees weakened. It wasn’t fair….how could just her name in his mouth undo her like this?
The hairs on her arms stood. It wasn’t that he was trying to be seductive. He didn’t even have to try. It was the rawness, the emotion he carried in his voice, like every time he said her name, he was saying you’re mine.
And now, he was moving closer.
Mia’s eyes widened. She quickly lifted her hand and pressed it against his chest, stopping him in his tracks. “Stop walking towards me,” she whispered, her voice shaking more than she wanted it to.
Alex froze, his deep gaze searching her face. He didn’t move, but the look in his eyes made it hard for her to breathe. She knew if she met his stare for too long, she’d be gone.
“Can you tell me why you’re doing this?” he asked gently. “What do I have to do for you to forgive me?”
Her lips pressed together tight. She couldn’t let him see how much he still affected her. “I told you already,” she muttered, crossing her arms.
But before she could take a breath, Alex moved. In one swift motion, he grabbed her wrist and pulled her straight into his chest.
Mia gasped, letting out a sharp sound as her body slammed into his. Her breath hitched…his warmth, his scent, everything about him flooded her senses. Their faces were now so close, so dangerously close.
“Alex….what are you doing?! Let me go!” she cried, her voice shaky.

But Alex didn’t release her. Instead, he sighed, lowering his forehead against hers. The contact made her
shiver.
“I miss you so much,” he whispered, his voice breaking like he had been holding that in for years.
Mia froze, every muscle in her body screaming at her to run, but her heart… her heart betrayed her. It squeezed painfully, so tight she could barely breathe.
“Alex…” she whispered weakly, her strength slipping away. “Stop.”
But he only repeated it, softer, more desperate. “I miss you so much.”
Her legs trembled. Her chest burned. She didn’t want to feel this. She didn’t want to remember how safe she once felt with him, how loved she once felt.
“Stop,” Mia whispered again, but this time her voice broke.
Their eyes locked.
And in that moment, the walls she had built over the years crumbled piece by piece. Her heart betrayed her again and again, hammering against her ribs, screaming the truth she didn’t want to admit. She still loved
him.
“Alex…” she breathed out, barely holding herself up.
He looked down at her lips, and she made the mistake of glancing at his too.
The air grew thick. Her body swayed forward without permission.
Slowly….so slowly….he leaned down, giving her every chance to turn her head away. But Mia didn’t. She stayed right there, frozen but waiting, her lips parting in the faintest breath.
Her mouth lifted, closing the gap. Their lips met halfway.
The kiss was soft at first, testing, almost fragile, like Alex was afraid she would break.
But Mia melted into him instantly. Her hands, which had been pushing him away moments ago, trembled against his chest before gripping the fabric of his shirt tightly.
It’s been so long, five whole years…
The spark was instant, her whole body buzzed, her knees giving out beneath her.
Alex groaned into the kiss, pulling her flush against him, holding her like he never wanted to let go again. He deepened the kiss, his lips moving over hers with hunger, with desperation.
Mia let out a soft sound against his mouth.
She couldn’t think. Every ounce of her willpower vanished as his tongue brushed against her lips, demanding
more.

Her lips parted, and Alex took full advantage, sliding his tongue against hers, claiming her mouth completely.
Her legs turned to jelly. Her body shivered uncontrollably as heat rushed through her veins.
This wasn’t just a kiss. It was years of longing.
Mia whimpered softly into his mouth, the sound breaking Alex’s last restraint. He kissed her harder, deeper, again and again, like he was trying to make up for all the time they lost.
His hand moved to her waist, pressing her closer until there was no space left between them.
Her hands slid up to his neck, clutching him desperately, and for a second she hated herself. She hated how easy it was for him to break her walls. She hated how she still loved him, maybe even more than before.
Tears stung her eyes as she kissed him back helplessly, her heart soaring and breaking at the same time.
How is it possible to love someone so much after so many years?
When Alex finally pulled away, his forehead rested on hers, both of them breathing hard. His lips were still hovering so close, like he wanted to dive back in.
“Mia…” he whispered, his voice raw.
Her chest tightened, and before she could stop herself, the words tumbled out.
“I have a boyfriend.”
Alex froze. His hands, which were still holding her, loosened slightly as he pulled back just enough to see her face. His brows furrowed. “What?”
Mia bit her lip hard, her heart pounding painfully. She hadn’t thought this through. She hadn’t planned on saying that. But now that it was out, she had no choice. She had to run with it.
“I said I have a boyfriend,” she repeated quickly, wrapping her arms around herself and stepping away from him, heading toward the door like it was her only lifeline.
Alex blinked, his face unreadable. “Is this some kind of scheme-”
“No, it’s not!” Mia cut in fast, her voice sharp, almost panicked. She needed to sound convincing. She couldn’t let him know what she was really feeling.
She took a deep breath, her mind racing. She had to come up with something. Anything.
“It’s uh…” she stammered, trying to force the lie out. Think, Mia. Think!
Her tongue moved before her brain caught up. “His name is Felix.”
She froze instantly.
Her stomach dropped. She hadn’t just said that out loud, had she?

It was too late to turn back now.
