Mia walked into the living room to see Alex and Aiden playing the Pocho Game.
“Daddy made this game, son,” Alex said with a proud grin.
Aiden smiled, staring up at his father with his big eyes, so full of love and adoration.

Mia froze in the doorway for a moment, watching them. She couldn’t help the smile that curved around her lips.
It was such a simple moment, but it stirred something deep inside her.
Aiden might not fully understand what was happening, but in his little heart, he knew one thing for sure….his father was someone special, almost like a superhero.
And it wasn’t even Alex telling him that. It was Mia, all those years of stories and little white lies, building an image of a man who was strong and good, even when she had every reason not to.
“No way! My son loves and plays my game?” Alex exclaimed in disbelief. He quickly reached over, took the phone Aiden was holding, and tossed it gently onto the couch. Then, without warning, he scooped Aiden into his arms and tossed him up into the air.
The boy’s laughter rang out, pure and bright, his tiny giggles echoing through the room like music.
Mia chuckled softly at the sight, her eyes softening as she watched father and son together. It felt strange… seeing them like this. Aiden looked so safe in Alex’s arms…..So happy, and so full of joy.
She didn’t realize she was staring until Alex looked up at her. Their eyes met, and instantly Mia looked away, pretending to be interested in something else.

That night, she was given a huge room to sleep in. Too big if you ask her.
Aiden had insisted on sleeping with his father, and Mia had agreed.
She told herself she wasn’t jealous–no, she wasn’t.
Still… she found herself pouting, rolling over on the bed again and again, restless. She couldn’t switch her mind off. Too many things were piling up inside her head. Alex. Aiden…. The lies she had told. The lies she was still telling. And most of all…..the fact that she had dragged Mr Felix into her mess
She sighed loudly into the pillow, hugging it close. She rolled and rolled until eventually, sleep came, though she wasn’t even sure when.
The next morning, she was woken by a gentle knock at her door.

“Miss Mia,” a maid’s voice came softly. “I was told to help you get ready for the day.”

Mia sat up slowly, rubbing her eyes. She didn’t really need a maid. She could handle herself just fine. But she didn’t have the energy to argue either. So she sighed, nodded, and let the woman in.
The maid helped her freshen up, even bringing in clothes. When Mia asked for something work–appropriate, the maid returned with a gown that looked simple enough, neat and official.
Her first instinct after waking up had been to check up on Aiden, to help him get ready for school like always. But Esther Blackwell had already told her last night not to worry. “We’ll get Aiden ready,” she had said firmly. And that was that.
So Mia focused on herself.
She had made up her mind. She wasn’t running or hiding anymore. She would go back to her job. This was her life now… She will be staying, and that means facing everything head on.
When she was finally ready, she stepped out, the maid tells her that breakfast was already served.

She stopped in her tracks when she entered the dining room.
Everyone was already seated, already dressed, like some perfectly framed family portrait. And there, at the end of the table, was Aiden, legs swinging from his chair.
“Mama!” Aiden screamed the moment he saw her. He scrambled down from his seat and ran toward her as fast as his little legs could carry him.
Mia bent down instantly, smiling wide as she caught him in her arms.
“Look at you, forgetting Mama, huh?” she teased.
Aiden giggled, his small hands clutching her tightly before planting a kiss on her cheek.
“Mama, look!” Aiden said suddenly, pulling something out and holding it up proudly.
It was a bank card.
Mia blinked. “Baby, what are you doing with this? I told you…..you can’t take things that don’t belong to you.”
“But it’s mine, Mama!”
“Aiden-”
“I gave it to him,” a voice cut in smoothly.
All heads turned toward Esther Blackwell, who sat there calmly, not even looking up as she sipped her drink.
“What?” she said defensively. “He needs his own money.”

“Mom,” Alex muttered, exasperated.
“No, he doesn’t, Mom. He’s three. He’s a baby,” Jullian said sounding almost amused.
“I’m four years old! I’m a big boy!” Aiden argued, puffing out his chest proudly with a tiny pout.
Mia pressed her lips together, trying so hard not to burst into laughter.
“You’re still three baby-”
“Uncle Ethan said I’ll be four soon!” Aiden shot back quickly.
Mia smiled, kissing his face all over. “I know, baby. But you’re not four yet. And even if you’re fifty, you’ll still be my baby.”
Aiden giggled loudly, wriggling in her arms.
“When is it?” Esther Blackwell asked suddenly.
Mia frowned. “When is what?”
“His birthday,” Esther said flatly.
“Don’t tell her. She’ll do worse,” Jullian muttered under his breath.
“Shut up, Jullian,” Esther snapped.
The tension at the table crackled for a moment before everything moved on. The rest of breakfast passed quickly, filled with the usual Blackwell family bickering. Mia ate quietly, watching and listening,
Soon, it was time to leave. They had to drop Aiden off at school first. Once again, Mia found herself in the passenger seat of Alex’s car, Aiden chattering happily in the back.
“You look beautiful,” Alex said suddenly, glancing at her.
“Thanks,” Mia replied shortly, keeping her gaze fixed on the window.
“Are you resuming work today?” he asked.
“Yeah. Is there a problem?” she asked sharply.
“Not at all,” Alex said quietly, starting the car.
Mia stayed silent after that, listening to Alex and Aiden’s conversation. It was strange, hearing her son talk to his father so easily, as if they had known each other forever. She didn’t know how to feel about it.
When they arrived at the school, Alex carried Aiden in his arms while Mia walked beside them. They really did look like a family, like a couple dropping their child off together. The thought made her chest ache.
She spotted Miss June immediately and hurried toward her.

Miss June froze, her eyes widening as she looked between the three of them. She didn’t seem to know what to say. “Oh,” she finally let out, forcing a smile. “That’s amazing, Aiden.”
Mia quickly stepped in. “He might be coming to pick him up sometimes. He’s Aiden’s father.”
“Hi. Nice to meet you,” Alex said, his face completely unreadable, not even the hint of a smile.
“Same here, sir,” Miss June said quickly, clearly flustered. Alex’s intimidating aura can be really annoying sometimes.
They said their goodbyes to Aiden, though Alex had a hard time letting go of him.
“I’ll take you to work,” Alex said after.
Mia just nodded.
The ride to the company was once again quiet.
Alex wasn’t even bothering to talk to her too.
He definitely believed what she told him last night… which is a good thing?
When they got to the company, Alex parked in the general employee area, even though he had his own private lot. Mia said nothing, just followed behind him, planning to wait for him to go up first.
The last thing she wanted was for people to see them together and start unnecessary gossip.
But fate had other plans.
Just as they stepped inside, Mr. Felix was walking toward the entrance. His eyes landed on Mia first.
“Hey, hi Mia,” he greeted warmly.
“Mr. Felix-” she said before the name fully registered in her head.
Shit,
Slowly, she turned her head. Alex was staring at her, his eyes sharp and unreadable.
“Good morning, sir,” Mr. Felix said quickly as soon as he noticed Alex standing there,
“Are you the Felix dating her?”
