Chapter 6
I shook my head.
“I can take care of myself.”
Just as I finished speaking, my stomach growled loudly.
“With all these offerings you’ve bought, why didn’t you get something to eat for yourself?”
He leaned down to look at me. His features were even more handsome than Raymond’s. His eyelashes curled up like a butterfly.
“I don’t… have that much money.
“Dad needs to eat more.”
He laughed so hard that he fell backward. “Let me take you to eat something good, okay?”
The sun slowly sank behind the hills as Mr. Handsome made a silly face.
“If you keep waiting until it’s dark, wild animals will come and eat you.”
I widened my eyes, staring at him. How could someone be so scary?
But I wasn’t waiting for anyone. I just wanted to spend more time with my
dad.
I looked back at my dad’s tombstone. Mr. Handsome held my hand. “Alright, let’s go. I’ll come with you next year.”
Raymond had said the same thing before… but he changed.
I wanted to go home, but Mr. Handsome took me to his house. The doormat was pink, and the lights were colorful. Walking inside made me feel warm all over.
Raymond didn’t like to turn on the heater, so my hands and feet were always freezing.
The plates on the table were all pink. The chairs were black. I didn’t like black.
Mr. Handsome touched his nose. “I’ll change them tomorrow. For now, let’s eat.”
Then he picked me up. He sat on the chair, and I sat on his lap. It felt kind of strange.
“Don’t you need to eat?”
“You eat first.”
“Don’t you have chairs of other colors at home?”

The tips of his ears turned red.
“Not yet.”
“Oh.”
It was a little awkward, but I was starving. I grabbed my spoon and started shoveling food into my mouth.
For dishes that I couldn’t reach, he would move them closer to me. There were little cakes after the meal too. They were all my favorites.
“Would Eleanor live here from now on? ”
He wiped the crumbs off my mouth, and I stared at him blankly.
Raymond would have only felt disgusted.
I got down from him. “I have a home.”
I stubbornly wanted to go back, curled up, hiding in the room.
“If you go back, Remy will pick you up. He can’t just watch you starve.
“But he already has a girlfriend. There can’t be other girls around him.
“Do you want to go back to the Devlin’s residence, or stay here?”
So everyone thought I was a burden.
I blinked and held back the urge to cry. “I’ll try to learn to take care of myself, so I won’t trouble anyone.”
The handsome guy nodded. “Okay, I can teach you.”
My eyes lit up.”
“Yes.”
- “Really?”
He started teaching me how to brush my teeth properly and how to wash my clothes. Soap bubbles went everywhere, but he only laughed and said I was cute.
I didn’t know what “cute” meant, but he would smile at me with his eyes curved like a beautiful crescent moon.
I’d burn the eggs until they turned black. He said he’d demonstrate again, and the kitchen almost caught fire. The chef rushed in to put it out.
“My dear troublemakers, what do you want to eat? I can make it for you,” she said.
“Stop with the fireworks, okay?”
She was about to cry.
I sat in the pink room that looked like a princess’s castle. But I wasn’t happy at all.

“Elca just isn’t used to it yet. Elea isn’t dumb. At least it still looks like an egg,” Mr. Handsome comforted me.
I nodded, feeling strangely encouraged.
Seeing his struggles, the chef decided to teach me herself.
I learned quickly and could even make pasta. Mr. Handsome praised me, saying it tasted really good.
He got me a new phone and gave me a watch. He said with the watch, he could always find me and wouldn’t lose me.
The contact on my phone had been changed to Mr. Handsome.
He said his name was Sebastian Keaton. It was a very nice name.
I thought life would go on like this… until Raymond came looking for me.
