Chapter 7

Sebastian told me to hide in the room.

Raymond arrived with a group of men dressed in black and surrounded the mansion.

“My people say you took Eleanor away. Where is she?”

Mr. Handsome shrugged. “It’s inappropriate that your people break into my house and demand her.”

“Do you know this is illegal imprisonment?!” Raymond was furious.

“How do you know she didn’t come with me willingly?”

Raymond didn’t believe him. “I’ve watched her grow up. She’s never left the Devlin’s residence.

“She liked me since she was little. How could she go with anyone else?”

Sebastian smiled. “Really?”

“But she’s not with me, Mr. Devlin. You’d better look elsewhere.”

Raymond looked reluctant. “Sebastian, you’d better not let me find out that you kidnapped her, or you’ll face the con- sequences.”

After saying that, Raymond left with his men.

I carefully peeked my head out. “Did I cause you trouble?”

“It’s okay. He’ll find out sooner or later.” He ruffled

hair.

He seemed to really like ruffling my hair.

A few days later, Sebastian said he was taking me out and dressed me in a sparkly pink outfit in advance. It looked re- ally pretty.

The location was where Raymond used to hold parties, but he never took me there himself.

The place was filled with golden light, and many of the people there had mocked me before. I instinctively hid behind Sebastian.

He slipped my arm into his. “Stay close to me. What’s there to be afraid of?”

I froze a little. Raymond never let me be close to him in formal situations before.

Someone in the crowd spoke up.

“Oh my God, the little fool Remy has been looking for for half a month is actually with Sebastian?”

“He said he’s not in the mood today. I’ve got to tell him this.”

“Do you think they’ll fight over a little fool?”

“Impossible. Remy already has a girlfriend. Don’t you know?”

I instinctively didn’t want to see Raymond.

Sebastian noticed and led me to the second floor. The wind blew across the terrace, and the stars were bright. I played with the leaves on a fake tree nearby.

Sebastian placed his hands on either side of me. “Eleanor, do you know that you look really beautiful tonight?”

His eyes reflected the stars, as beautiful as the sky.

“You’re really handsome, too.”

He laughed in exasperation.

I saw Raymond storming up to the second floor, anger written all over his face.

Sebastian whispered, “Do you want me to help you?”

I grabbed his shirt, feeling a little nervous. The fear of being locked in a dark room still lingered.

The next moment, his lips pressed against the corner of mine, soft like jelly.

I tried to pull away, but his fingers held the back of my neck tightly, stopping me from moving. He kissed urgently and fiercely.

I could hardly breathe, and my legs went weak. My fingers clutched his collar.

Raymond strode over, lifted Sebastian, and punched him.

“How dare you touch my people!”

“Sebastian, you are a monster!”

Raymond tried to hit again, but I blocked him.

He couldn’t believe it. “He harassed you just now.

“Come home with me, Eleanor,” Raymond said, reaching for my hand, but I dodged.

“I’ve already moved out of the Devlin’s residence.”

Raymond blinked. “Actually, that day I went to see your dad, but you weren’t there.

“I thought you were just angry and would come back in a few days.

“Because I didn’t pick you up immediately, so you’re throwing a tantrum at me?”

I used to throw tantrums át him. Whenever I was unhappy, I would run away from home, and Raymond would panic

and search for me everywhere.

It seemed like the only way to prove he still cared about me.

But at some point, he stopped looking.

Still, I would be scared during storms, thunder, and rain. I couldn’t take care of myself. After running out, I’d always come back, cling to him, begging to be taken in.

He also thought that after I left the recordings, I would sneak back to the Devlin’s residence in a few days. But this time was different. I wouldn’t go back.

“Remy, I’ve grown up. Elea can live on her own.”

Raymond pointed at Sebastian. “Then what about him!”

“When you say you can live on your own, you mean with another man.”

Sebastian shielded me, just like Raymond once protected Regina.

“It’s her choice how she wants to live.”

“Your family insisted on an arranged marriage, and then went back on your word.

“She doesn’t want you anymore, okay?”

Many people below were staring now, whispering.

“Oh my God, the heirs of the Devlin and Keaton families are fighting over a little fool, are you serious?”

“Is it because she’s pretty or just easy to control…”

“I thought Remy didn’t like the little fool? What’s going on now?”

Raymond took a deep breath and said to Sebastian, “I can give you anything you want.”

“I am her guardian. Let go immediately.”

Sebastian still stood in front of me.

“She’s 18 now. She doesn’t need a guardian. She’s not a fool, an object, or a tool for you to manipulate.

“I just wanted to tell you today.

“She no longer has any connection with your family.

“She has the right to choose for herself.”
