Chapter 6
Me and Piper spent the whole day at Caleb’s private estate in the hills, scared as shit but trying to play it cool.
When it was time to leave, some “emergency” came up.
“Sorry, but the forest service is doing an emergency closure. Looks like you ladies will have to stay at the estate for a few days.”
I acted all disappointed and nodded, making him think I bought his bullshit.
“Oh well, Mr. Sterling, I’m gonna be real with you-I’m spoiled as fuck. I want the best suite.”
‘King-size bed minimum with Egyptian cotton sheets.”
‘And food? I don’t eat shitty food. Get me a chef who knows what they’re doing.”
‘Everything better be fresh, flown in every day. I don’t eat old crap.”
‘Oh, and I get bored fast. You got all this stuff here-games, horses, pools. I want entertainment every single day. You cool with that?”
‘iper was behind me looking like her brain had melted.
Light then she really believed I’d been completely spoiled by the rich lifestyle.
The more I talked, the bigger Caleb’s smile got.
Yeah, totally.” He nodded. “You got it.”
After Caleb left, I quickly sent Blake a text.
Chen deleted it and turned off my phone.
ew days later, my phone mysteriously “disappeared.”
Caleb had someone bring me a brand-new iPhone when he found out.
The next couple weeks were chill and luxurious. And Caleb never showed his face.
The whole mountain was crawling with security guards and vehicles.
just went with the flow, eating, drinking, and living it up every day.
n just two weeks, I gained ten pounds.
ut Piper was getting restless.
hat night, she came to my room looking all nervous.
Raven…” she said quietly, not looking at me. “I gotta confess something.”
pulled off my gold face mask and sighed.
Spill it.”
‘iper bit her lip. “Caleb fucking paid me.”
That’s why I dragged you to that whole thing. So he could trick you into coming up here.”
[squinted at her.
Piper’s head dropped even lower.

“Do you know WHY he wanted me to do that?” I crossed my arms and leaned back.
“I thought he wanted to make you his sugar baby.”
Then she looked down again.
“I figured since Blake went broke, you might be struggling. So I said yes.”
I blinked hard.
Look at that. Such a caring bestie.
- I shook my head in frustration. “Now you’re finally seeing he’s up to some shady shit?”
Yeah.”
he scratched her head. “He’s kept you locked up here forever and hasn’t even tried to get in your room. Something’s definitely off.”
Seeing my mysterious expression, she scooted closer and asked curiously:
Raven, you figured something out already, didn’t you?”
let out a deep sigh.
Just guessing. Give it a few more days and we’ll see if I’m right.”
‘urns out, I was totally right.
