That was exactly the kind of envious gaze Sierra craved. She needed it more than anything.
Around her, classmates whispered and gossiped.
“Sierra, what’s your relationship with Mr. Lane?”
“Hey, why is your face so red? Are you dating Mr. Lane?”
“Sierra’s gorgeous, and Mr. Lane is handsome… I think they’d make a perfect couple!”
“Are you Mr. Lane’s girlfriend?”
Everyone knew Shaun had a girlfriend, but no one knew who she was.
Sierra blushed immediately. “It’s not what you think. Don’t say things like that, or people
will get the wrong idea.”
She glanced at Halsey while saying it. She knew Halsey was Shaun’s fiancée, and honestly, just making Halsey a little uncomfortable made her feel happy.
Meanwhile, Halsey didn’t react at all.
Then, Shaun said casually, “I do know Sierra.”
He said he knew her, but didn’t explain how or what kind of relationship they had. And of course, everyone’s imaginations ran wild.
Her classmates began to gush.
“Sierra, you’re not a good friend! You know Mr. Lane and you didn’t tell us!”
“I think you must be his girlfriend. Stop denying it.”
Sierra’s cheeks flamed. “Stop it, you guys!”
Shaun continued the roll call. “Leon Tyler.”

He quickly reached a familiar name. “Halsey Mallin!”
Halsey, sitting in the back row, replied loudly, “Here!”
Shaun turned to her. “Earlier, I said I had an announcement. This is it: I’m getting
married!”
The whole lecture hall erupted. That news was completely unexpected.
“You’re getting married?”
“That’s so sudden! I didn’t expect that!”
Standing at the podium, Shaun’s eyes were full of joy and warmth.
