Chapter 11

Before Jayce and I held a wedding, my parents had rushed us into applying for marriage certificate first. They seemed so afraid that I’d regret the decision that they pushed me into legally tying myself to Jayce as soon as possible.
As for Jayce, I also told him truthfully about my very first relationship with Liam.
After hearing me out, Jayce rubbed the pale red burn mark on my wrist before planting a kiss on it, looking greatly distressed. “I’ll take care of the surveillance footage. You don’t have to worry about it. Once your wrist is fully healed, I’ll take you to pick out a dress for our engagement banquet.”
I nodded.
I was enjoying watching Jayce running around preparing for our engagement banquet.
Over the past six years, my world constantly revolved around Liam. Now that I’d completely severed ties with him, I felt as light as if I’d been relieved of a heavy burden.
Jayce personally selected a venue, shipped in all kinds of fresh flowers by air, wrote invitations by hand, and hired a professional team to design a wedding dress for me. As I watched him busy himself with all this, I felt what it was like to be truly loved.
It was only then that I understood that love was supposed to be mutual. It wasn’t about one party giving while the other took
endlessly.
I reflected on myself and concluded that I’d done enough for Liam over the past six years. Now, I wanted to really experience a healthy, positive romantic relationship.
In truth, the relationship Jayce and I had right now was already far stronger than what I’d had before.
Within two days, Jayce informed me that he’d already helped clear my name in the necklace incident.
Everyone in the company now knew that Vivi had orchestrated the entire incident herself, and her goal had been to drive me
out of the company.
On the day the surveillance footage was leaked, Vivi was taken away by the cops for investigation on slander and defamation charges. Jayce had also immediately dismissed her from her position of technical director.
Of course, Jayce naturally did not overlook the slap Liam had given me and had filed a claim against Liam as my fiancé.
It didn’t matter how much Liam ended up paying in compensation, as long as this upset him and revealed our previous relationship to the entire company, Jayce’s goal would be achieved.
As Jayce told me this, his eyes flickered, and he looked guiltily at me. “Do my actions make you uncomfortable?”
I quickly smiled and replied, “This is the first time I’ve felt that it’s wonderful having someone at my back!”
Jayce smiled at this. His brows dipped slightly as he smiled, and his eyes filled with joy.
