Chapter 10 Alive
Chapter 10 Alive
The wind on the deck was so strong, tossing my hair everywhere.
By the time Jericho caught on and tried to reach me, it was too late.
I was standing on the outer edge of the deck.
Three years ago, I didn’t jump off that rooftop. This time, I could.
But this time, I wasn’t scared anymore.
Sorry, Samuel. I couldn’t keep the promise I made to you.
“Selly!”
Jericho’s voice tore through the air, but I didn’t even flinch.
leapt.
The ocean wrapped around me in an instant.
I shut my eyes, smiling. No fear, no panic, just calm acceptance.
Suddenly, I saw a shadow plunge into the water above me.
Someone was desperately swimming toward me.
Moonlight broke through the waves, lighting up his face.
It was Samuel.
He swam toward me with incredible speed, grabbing me and pulling me toward the nearby yacht.
Samuel hauled me onto the deck.
The moment I was on board, he wrapped me in a panicked hug.,

“Are you hurt? I’m sorry. It’s my fault. I fell asleep and let him take you. I’m so sorry, Selly. Don’t be scared. I’m here now.”
His body heat melted away the chill of the ocean.
At that moment, hope for life finally reignited within me.
He held me tight, like a child who had found a lost treasure.
Jericho’s boat quickly drew near, and he stumbled and scrambled to reach me.
He embraced me excitedly, exclaiming, “Fantastic, Selly, you’re still alive! You didn’t die!”
I shoved him away in disgust and sank into Samuel’s arms.
Jericho collapsed to his knees, guilt written all over his face.
“Selly, I’m begging you, forgive me. I was clueless before. I didn’t know how to love you.
“But now I understand.
“Selly, don’t be so heartless. You taught me how to love, and now you’re walking away?
“Don’t leave me! I’ll listen to you! I’ll do anything you want!
“Please, just forgive me.”
I stayed quiet, just watching him let it all out.

Chapter 10 Alive
After a while. I finally spoke softly, “Jericho, if I had a choice, I’d rather have never met you.
“These three years have been too hard.”
He went silent.

“In that love letter I gave you in high school, the last line went like this.
“I have to give everything I have to keep moving forward. That’s my dream, my goal.
“I don’t have any amazing qualities. All I can honestly say right now is, it’s you. My pursuit, my dream–it’s all you. You’re my goal, my drive. That’s all.”
“Then why didn’t you give me that letter?”
Samuel rubbed the back of his head, looking a little embarrassed. “I was skinny and small back then. I was afraid I’d just drag you down.”
I chuckled. “I’m not afraid of being dragged down by you. What scares me is you not needing me.”
His face flushed.
From that day on, Jericho seemed dazed and out of it.
He didn’t even order his bodyguards to stop us; he just let us leave without a fight.
Samuel and I went straight to the hospital. Luckily, it was all just minor injuries, nothing serious.
As for Jericho, I pressed charges against him for attempted murder and kidnapping..
They say that on the day he was arrested, the police found Talia in his office, beaten to a pulp.
But none of that mattered to me anymore.
Because on my sofa, there was a childish CEO waiting to be taken care of.
I carefully put away that love letter, placing it gently into its box.
Grinning, I said to him, “Your stomach’s been bothering you lately, so how about we have oatmeal for dinner?”
His face was still flushed, but he didn’t forget to remind me. “Just don’t put a banana in it, okay?”
“Okay, so we’ll add honey then?”
He mumbled a soft “okay.”
Outside, the sun was shining beautifully.
