Chapter 2
Jackson stared at me, holding his breath. I just slid the skewers across to
them.
“Here you go. Enjoy.”
Viviana propped her chin in her hands, eyes sparkling at the person across from her.
“Edward, try it. Does it taste just like you’remember?”
Just then, the bench beside them was yanked back violently. Two shirtless guys with gold chains swaggered over and dropped onto the bench.
“Miss! Grill me some beef skewers.”
They grabbed a case of beer, cracked a few open, chugged, and tossed some skewers onto my tray.
“Extra sesame and spice. If it’s not spicy enough, I’m not paying.”
Within minutes, they were drunk and bleary–eyed, even whistling at me.
“Miss, give me some sweetbreads too! Need to keep my strength up for tonight.”
The chaos on one side made the other side feel eerily quiet.
Jackson tried several times to get up, but Edward held him back.
His eyes were tracking my every move, curiosity barely concealed.
He was probably wondering how I had ended up running a food stall after all these years.

I didn’t care. Business meant money, and I desperately needed money.
After the big guy got drunk and told a dirty joke, the table erupted in laughter. Viviana, however, wasn’t amused.
She could have walked away, but instead, she stormed over and dumped a cup of beer onto the tattooed guy’s bare head.
The liquid ran down his face. The guy instantly blew up, slamming the table and reaching to strike.
Edward shoved Viviana behind him, pulling out his wallet and flinging a stack of cash onto the table.
“Consider it compensation. Go eat somewhere else.”
I snorted. If they left, I would not receive any money. I lunged and grabbed the bills first.
This book had been added on your bookshelf.
Then, without hesitation, I grabbed a half-empty bottle of water and splashed it over Viviana.
“Ah! You… you bitch!” she screamed.
Apparently, traveling abroad only dulled her memory–she even had the
nerve to curse at me.
I shoved all the cash into her blouse, pressed it into her chest, and, for good measure, slapped her again.
“You have got a sharp tongue. I wouldn’t mind sewing it shut for you.”
Everything happened so fast that the place fell silent, the only sound the crackle of burning charcoal.
“Anastasia, you’re crazy…”

spun around and slapped him, too.

Edward licked the corner of his mouth and laughed. “Hitting me is fine, but hitting my fiancée? That’s too much. Vivi, how do you want to get back at her?”
Viviana covered her face, tears welling in her eyes.
He glanced around. “This stall looks good. How about I smash it to make it up for you, Vivi?”
Then, he went wild, flinging my skewers to the ground, toppling tables and chairs one by one. The two drunk guys were completely
dumbfounded.

They glanced at me, then at the out–of–control Edward, and trembled as they ran.
I stared at the wreckage and finally lost it.
I lunged at Viviana and yanked her blonde hair mercilessly. Edward and Jackson tried to pull us apart, but couldn’t.
By the end, we all ended up at the police station.
Before leaving, I looked at the chaos–probably thousands in damages- and couldn’t resist kicking Edward one more time.
The damage that night could’ve covered a week of chemo.
This was absolutely killing me.
