I knew that Ariana was warning me not to bring up the heart transplant.
But honestly, what was the point of mentioning it anyway?

It was worth it.
Giving up for Nicholas was definitely worth it.

I quickly grabbed his arm. “I really don’t want to go to the hospital.”
Only after I said those words did I realize there was a bit of flirtation in my voice.

But Vincent pushed him away, his voice full of righteous anger. “I’ve looked into everything! It was this woman who poisoned you and caused your accident. Even Carol’s blindness? All her doing! She’s just pretending to be nice. She’s a total fraud!”
I quickly interrupted him. “Vincent!”
Vincent froze for a second but then shouted at me in frustration. “Carol! You’re being so silly!”
