Mia sat there quietly watching everything. The difference now was that she wasn’t behind the counter.
She was sitting across from Alex, a drink in her hand, being served by people who reminded her too much of her past self.
Alex reached for her hand and kissed it lightly, his thumb brushing her skin in that way that always made her
heart flutter.
Mia smiled softly, her cheeks warming up as she tried to enjoy the drink she’d been served. It was sweet, a little bitter, but nice.
She walked back to Emily again and smiled. They talked for a bit longer, catching up on little things…. how Emily’s life had been, how the lounge had changed. It wasn’t an easy conversation, but it felt good to talk. Emily had been a part of her story, even if it was a small one.
When it was time to leave, Mia hugged Emily one last time. “Take care of yourself, okay?” she said.
Emily nodded “You too, Mia. You really deserve all this happiness.”
They exchanged contacts before she finally walked out of Casa.
Alex slipped his arm around her shoulders, pulling her close. She leaned into him, her heart fi

He suggested they visit The Ring next.
But Lucas shook his head. “It’s been shut down,” he said. “Two years ago. After all the frequent shootings that happened there. It was too dangerous.”
Mia blinked, a little shocked. “The Ring?”
“Yeah,” Lucas said. “They closed it for good. Alex’s influence was what was keeping that place in check, after he left they turned that place to gangs hangout point.
Alex just sighed, a small frown on his face. “Probably for the best,” he muttered.
They said goodbye to Lucas and Sam, promising to stay in touch, then headed back to the hotel.
The moment they walked through the door, a small voice called out……
“Papa!”
Aiden jumped down from Esther’s lap and came running toward them, his little legs wobbling as he tried to
move faster.
Alex bent down immediately, scooping him up mid–run and spinning him around in the air. Aiden squealed

Then Alex turned, pulling Mia closer with one arm while still holding Aiden in the other. Mia smiled up at him, her eyes flicking to Aiden, who was grinning like sunshine.
“Mama,” Aiden said, reaching a small hand toward her face.
“Yes, baby?” she asked, her voice soft.
“Come,” Aiden said seriously, patting her cheek.
“Oh? Someone got something to tell Mama?” Mia teased, a smile tugging at her lips.
Aiden giggled. Then he leaned in close and planted a big, wet kiss on her cheek.
Mia let out a playful gasp, her eyes wide in mock surprise.
Before she could react, Alex leaned in and kissed her forehead too.
“Hey!” she said, pretending to sound offended. “What’s this? An ambush?”
Aiden giggled harder, and Alex laughed out loud.
Mia gasped dramatically, stepping back as she raised her hands. “Ready for war!” she said, making both of them laugh harder.
Esther, who was sitting nearby scrolling through her phone, looked up and couldn’t help laughi father, like son,” she said, shaking her head.

The room was filled with laughter, warmth and love. For a moment, it didn’t feel like they were in Willowcrest at all.
The next day, the mood was different.
They were all dressed in black, sitting quietly in the funeral hall.
Charles had been laid to rest.
That was it.
No fireworks. No final words that could undo anything. Just a quiet end to a man who had caused so much pain.
Mia watched Alex quietly, his face was unreadable.
Alex leaned toward her, his voice soft as he whispered into her hair. “I don’t know what to do with his company.”
Mia turned slightly, resting her hand on his cheek. “You’ll figure it out,” she whispered back, looking him in

Alex smiled faintly. “I love you,” he said quietly.
“I love you more, baby,” she whispered back.

“Decided to stay back in Willowcrest?” Mia asked, sipping from the bottle of water in her hand.
Ethan gave her a look. “God forbid,” he said, shaking his head immediately.
Mia laughed softly.
“What about Lily and Ann?” she asked.
“They actually wish they didn’t come at all,” Ethan said, sighing. “I actually attended the funeral just to thank Charles for doing what he did to us that night.”
Mia blinked. “What?”
Ethan shrugged. “I mean… I’d say God used him to save us from this place, from the horrible life we lived here.”
Mia raised a brow, staring at him. “God? I thought you were an atheist,” she teased.
Ethan burst into laughter. “I don’t even know anymore,” he said, shaking his head.
Mia chuckled softly. It went quiet for a few seconds, a peaceful kind of quiet.
Then Ethan shifted, looking serious all of a sudden. “Mia, there’s something I need to tell you,” he said.
Mia turned to him slowly, her brow furrowing. “What is it?”
He hesitated, his hands fidgeting with the hem of his shirt.
Mia sighed, already guessing where this was going. “If this is about you tricking me to come to Singapore when you found out about Alex, I already know,” she said simply.
Ethan froze. His eyes widened. “How-”
Mia smirked. “You should already know Lily’s allergic to keeping secrets,” she said, laughing softly.
Ethan blinked, still looking stunned. “So you’re not mad?”
Mia shook her head, her smile gentle. “No. Actually…” she paused and turned fully to face him. “I want to thank you, Ethan.”
Ethan frowned, confused.

was about to give up. Thank you for being there for me and Aiden. Thank you for being the best brother anyone could ask for.”
Ethan’s throat bobbed as he looked away quickly.
“Don’t you dare cry on me,” Mia said, her voice teasing.
Ethan laughed wetly, pulling her into a hug. “I’m grateful for you, Mia. I’m proud to call you my sister,” he whispered.
Mia smiled into his shoulder. “Thank you, Ethan.”
“Baby, careful,” Mia said later that evening, her tone soft but worried.
Aiden looked up from the sand, pouting. “But Mama, I want to play with the sand.”
Mia sighed, smiling at him. “I know, baby. Just be careful, okay?”
Aiden nodded quickly, then ran back to the spot where he’d been building something that looked like a castle.
Alex walked
up behind her, wrapping his arms around her waist. Mia leaned back against him, resting her head on his shoulder as they watched their son play.
“You okay?” Alex asked softly.
Mia nodded. “I’m fine.”
Alex sighed quietly. “We’re going back tomorrow,” he said.
Mia turned to look at him. “Have you-” she started, then stopped when she saw his face.
“Yeah,” Alex said before she could finish. “Most of the properties have been listed for sale. Other things can be arranged from home.”
Mia looked at him for a moment, then smiled.
He leaned down and kissed her gently. “Thank you for making me the happiest man on earth,” he said.
Mia chuckled softly. “Thank you for making me the happiest woman on earth,” she replied, smiling up at him.
Alex rested his forehead against hers. “We’re starting a new life together. Are you ready?”
Mia looked toward the shore, where Aiden was laughing, the wind blowing through his tiny curls.
“I was born ready,” she said softly.
Alex chuckled, his hand brushing her cheek. “I love you, baby.”
“I love you,” Mia whispered back.
