Shaun said solemnly, “The lawyers from Lane Corporation are already getting ready. I’m planning to sue Sierra officially for spreading lies and defaming me, deliberately damaging my reputation!”
“Do you think you actually have a chance of winning?” Halsey asked.
“Nothing ever happened between Sierra and me. We’ll win for sure,” Shaun replied confidently.
Halsey shook her head. “Even if you win, you’re still going to get stuck in this scandal. Sometimes, people don’t care about the truth. They just love gossip.”
Warren nodded. “That’s true. Honestly, Sierra’s kind of twisted. She knows she won’t win, but her goal is to drag Shaun through a scandal and tank Lane Corporation’s stock.”
Halsey remembered Sierra’s chilling words. She had sworn that if she couldn’t have it easy, she would make sure no one else would. Sierra was definitely a little unhinged and extreme.
Halsey then leaned forward. “I might have a solution. Do you want to hear it?”
Shaun and Warren’s eyes lit up.
Warren asked eagerly, “What’s your idea? Tell us!”
Halsey looked Shaun square in the eye. “If I tell you, you have to do exactly as I say.”
Shaun raised an eyebrow. “Okay…but what’s your plan?”
Halsey smirked. “We stage a little act.
Shaun frowned. “An act? What kind of act?”
“Come here,” Halsey whispered.
Shaun and Warren leaned in, and Halsey spoke softly so only they could hear.
Outside Lane Corporation, Sierra was sitting in her luxury car, fully aware that Shaun was about to hold a press conference to announce he was suing her.
She wasn’t afraid. People loved scandals involving CEOS and college girls. As long as she played it right and refused to back down, she could pull Shaun into the mess with her.
Sierra looked through the window at the Lane Corporation building. Things would’ve been so much easier if Shaun had accepted her charm. Too bad his taste wasn’t that refined. If that was the case, Sierra decided to just be ruthless.

She watched the lobby, noticing that a crowd of reporters had already gathered. Pulling her hat lower and zipping up her coat, she disguised herself as a passerby and slipped into the press crowd.
The reporters were buzzing like they’d had too much coffee.
“Has Mr. Lane come out yet?”
“The press conference was supposed to start at nine. It’s nine now. Why isn’t he here?”
“I’m dying to know what he’ll say.”
“Do you think something happened between Mr. Lane and that college girl?”
“It wouldn’t be surprising. I saw her yesterday–she’s not only pretty, but also has a figure that
bosses love.”
The gossiping continued, and Sierra couldn’t help but smile behind her disguise. She quietly curved her red lips in amusement.
Then, someone shouted, “Look! Someone’s coming!”
Sierra looked up and saw Warren walking over, Martin in tow.
But where was Shaun?
Why wasn’t he showing up?
The reporters swarmed around. “Where’s Mr. Lane? Why isn’t he here?”
“Isn’t he supposed to hold a press conference? What’s going on?”
“Come on. Tell Mr. Lane to come out and say something!”
Security in black suits had already cordoned off the area and were keeping everyone in line. Warren
raised a hand to quiet the crowd.
Instantly, the reporters hushed.
Warren cleared his throat. “Hello, everyone. Welcome to Lane Corporation. Mr. Lane has urgent matters to attend to and won’t be appearing today.”
