Brandon arrived at an inopportune time. Mike was in Allen’s office, working in Allen’s place.
Mike explained, “Dr. Saunders was specially hired by the hospital for major surgeries, so he doesn’t have to work regular hours. It’s just like when he holds a professorship at the Medical University, he doesn’t have to go to teach every day.
“After all, he is extremely talented, so we have to indulge and support him. What do you think, Mr. Grimes?”
Brandon said nothing, casting a cold glance before leaving.

In the ward, Matilda called Neil to ask about the interview in the afternoon.
Neil rarely spoke in long sentences.
“Mr. Norton had the secretary arrange for the media to film a special on Coreline Eternity.
“Ms. Warren, when your health recovers, we need to re-record your shots.”
Matilda asked, “The reporter and photographer who took me to the second floor, weren’t they arranged by Mr. Norton?”
In Neil’s reply, Matilda learned what happened.
The unopened bottle of water that Shawn gave her had been tampered with in advance.
It was premeditated.
Shawn must have done this kind of dirty thing more than once.
A few drops of date-rape drugs could make someone lose consciousness.
The memory afterward would be as if it had been erased, leaving a blank space.
Matilda’s fingers twisted the blanket.
If murder were legal, she would kill Shawn right away.
She would stab him without batting an eye.
However, the reality was that Shawn was Tinsley’s nephew, and Matilda was in dire straits, making it difficult to bring Shawn to justice.
Tessa fearfully hugged Matilda.
“Luckily, Dr. Saunders saved you. I’m so glad you’re okay.
“Matilda, I don’t understand why misfortune always revolves around you. Let me share some of your misfortune. I can’t help you, but I want to bear it for you.”
Matilda didn’t intend to cry at first.
Tessa’s words blurred Matilda’s vision with tears.
She opened her arms and hugged Tessa back.

She thought gratefully, ‘How fortunate to have such a friend!”
Then, they heard a hospital bed moving quickly outside.
Someone shouted in a panic, “Doctor, doctor, help!”
“I called. The patient is Shawn Walter, transferred from St. Mary’s Hospital.”
Hearing Shawn’s name, Matilda released Tessa.

Tessa immediately understood, got Matilda a pair of slippers, and the two went out arm in arm to see what was happening.
The emergency department doctor ran and asked, “What’s the situation?”
The man said, “I don’t know what happened. His family chartered my car to transfer him to another hospital. But someone intercepted the car halfway. Two men held me down, and then a man got into the car. With a few quick moves, he became like this.
“I was afraid he would die in my car, and I was also afraid that I would commit a crime if I left him in the car, so I quickly brought him here.”
The doctor examined the patient and said gravely, “Skin trauma, severe head trauma, lower body damage, and two fingers are missing.”
The doctor asked, “Where are his severed fingers?”
The man replied, “I don’t know.”
The doctor instructed, “Go and look in your car.
“Also, Melissa, notify the neurosurgery, orthopedics, and cardiothoracic doctors to come for a consultation, and call Dr. Saunders over as well.”
“No need to call me. I’m here already.” Allen walked over in a white coat and mask.
The driver, who went to the car trembling to find Shawn’s severed fingers, ran into Allen and immediately gasped, his hair standing on end.
He was too scared to speak, “You, you…”
Allen looked down at the driver with a calm and composed expression.
The driver was stunned for a moment, thinking he had recognized the wrong person.
He thought, “The person who cut off Shawn’s fingers did not wear glasses, and his whole person was gloomy as if from hell.
‘And this doctor here has a gentleman’s tenderness. How could it be the same person?’
The driver regained his composure and went to find Shawn’s fingers, shivering with fear.
Matilda witnessed Shawn’s miserable experience and felt a great deal better.
She whispered, “He deserved it,” to Tessa and looked up to see Allen walking over and stopping in front of her.
Matilda saw Allen’s eyes, and bright red blood streaks flickered in the light.

His body was stained with the smell of dust, and there seemed to be a bloody smell.
However, the smell of blood may be coming from Shawn, who was being wheeled into the operating room.
Allen looked at Matilda’s pretty face, which was almost bloodless, and her skin had lost its luster due to the few drops of the drug.
“Are you okay now?” he asked.
Matilda replied, “Yeah.”
“Do you want to save him?” Matilda asked Allen.
Allen saw wisdom in Matilda’s eyes, as if she knew everything. She knew his answer would be yes, but he was afraid to say it, fearing he would see disappointment in Matilda’s eyes.
Allen said nothing in response.
Matilda let go of Tessa and took a step towards Allen.
She stood on tiptoe, brought her mouth close to Allen’s ear, and whispered, “Then, can you give him a little less anesthetic?”
The corner of Allen’s eye twitched slightly.
The smile at the corner of Matilda’s mouth was like gentle ashes.
Allen looked at her deeply and slowly closed his eyelids.
Accompanied by Tessa, Matilda completed the discharge procedures.
She didn’t hear screams from the operating room.
In the operating room, the neurosurgeon and orthopedic doctors discussed and reasoned about Shawn’s injuries.
The neurosurgeon said, “His private part was cut off very exquisitely. It was neither too long nor too short, avoiding the vital parts. It only caused pain but didn’t take his life.
“Moreover, it was cut off with one go, neatly and uniformly, as if measured with a ruler.”
The orthopedic doctor chimed in, “Things are the same with these two fingers. The bones were cut flat and neat, with no bone fragments or cracks, more legendary than a professional.
“I guess the murderer is most likely a doctor.
“No, doctors don’t have such a high level of skill. If it wasn’t a god, it must be Dr. Saunders.”
Allen, the chief surgeon, raised his eyes.
The neurosurgeon tried to explain, “When I said Dr. Saunders, I used it as an adjective. I absolutely do not mean to suspect Dr. Saunders himself.”
Allen smiled slightly. “It doesn’t matter.”

The orthopedic doctor said, “Although Dr. Saunders hasn’t been at our hospital for long, he is kind and benevolent. The only

people who dislike him are those who are jealous of him. The people who suspect him of hurting others are the ones who should be suspected the most.”
The other doctors agreed, “Exactly. That’s right.”
Allen smiled calmly.
The hemostat in his hand seemed to touch one of Shawn’s nerves unintentionally.
Shawn, who had fainted from the pain, was woken up by the pain and screamed, crying out loud.
The others couldn’t bear to see that. “Shall we use some anesthesia?”
Allen, who always treated people kindly, said, “These are all superficial injuries. It’s not like opening the skull. Let’s save where we can.”
After Shawn fainted from the pain, he was awakened by the pain again. He fainted again after waking up, and then was awakened by the pain again.
It was worse than death!
