Chapter 9
Faced with Thalia’s accusation, Caspian simply replied.
“Seraphina is my wife.”
Suddenly, a mocking, almost vicious smile twisted Thalia’s face. “She’s your wife? Then what does that make me?”
What about us?”
‘Caspian, you said you would be responsible for me. Are you going back on your word now?”
Have you forgotten? I was the one who saved you when we were kids. You promised you would only love me for the rest of your life. Those were your own
words!”
Caspian’s body went stiff, he was unable to utter a single word.
le had wronged Seraphina, and now he had let Thalia down.
le had indeed said those things. That year, he had been bullied and pushed into the water.
When he woke up, he was in the hospital. The staff told him a Miss Anderson had saved his life.
During his hospital stay, Thalia came every day to take care of him.
‘rom that moment on, Caspian told himself that Thalia was the woman he was destined to marry.
he year he graduated, he planned the most extravagant proposal the city had ever seen, but Thalia left. She went abroad without a word.
While everyone was waiting to laugh at his expense, it was Seraphina who stepped forward, braving the immense pressure, and said to him.
Caspian Kingsley, I’m in love with you. I have been for many years. Will you marry me?”
tut Caspian didn’t answer her. He just had his men clear everything away.
lecause of that incident, Seraphina became the laughingstock of their social circle for a solid month.
he following month, Mr. Anderson approached him, explaining how long Seraphina had loved him and asking him to give her a chance.
he Kingsley family was constantly setting him up on blind dates at the time. Rather than marry a stranger, he preferred to choose Seraphina.
ut even though they married, Caspian insisted on keeping it a secret and stipulated that whenever he wanted to end the marriage, Seraphina could not stand in is way.
aspian had always treated Seraphina as a substitute for Thalia. It wasn’t until the moment she left that he realized he had fallen in love with her long ago.
fis thoughts returned to the present, his expression growing solemn. “Back then, it’s true, you were the one I loved. But you chose to go abroad. You were the ne who broke our promise first.”
Thalia, with all the history between us, even if we can’t be lovers, we can still be the best of friends.”
Seraphina has run away because of this. I’m going to find her and explain everything. But it’s not convenient for you to stay here right now. Go upstairs and ack your things. I’ll take you back to the Andersons’ later,”
With just a few sentences, Caspian had sealed the fate of his relationship with Thalia.
New York.
pencer’s helicopter landed on the grounds of a sprawling estate,
Feeling a bit airsick, Seraphina was carried off the helicopter by Spencer.
The estate stretched as far as the eye could see. Seraphina couldn’t help but remark, “I always knew you were rich, but I never realized you were this rich.”
This estate alone was worth more than the combined assets of the Anderson and Kingsley families.

Spencer raised an eyebrow. “Who said this is my home? This is your home.”
Before Seraphina could react, a middle-aged couple emerged from the estate’s mansion.
Even from a distance, Seraphina recognized them instantly.
It was her birth parents.
“Seraphina, you’re finally home.”
A middle-aged woman rushed forward and pulled Seraphina into a hug, her tears soaking Seraphina’s shoulder.
In all her years with the Andersons, she had always been disposable. No one had ever cared for her this much.
For a moment, tears stung Seraphina’s eyes. “Mom, I’m back. And this time, I’m not leaving again.”
