Chapter 20

With that, Caspian turned to leave.

Thalia was dumbfounded. This baby was her only leverage to keep him.

If he didn’t even care about the child, what was the point of keeping it?

Besides, the baby’s biological father wasn’t Caspian anyway.

Caspian had just stepped out of his office when the private investigator called.

“Mr. Kingsley, I’ve found the person you asked me to look for. Ms. Anderson was recently spotted near New York, but there was a man with her.”

Hearing the word “man”, Caspian felt as if he’d been plunged into an icy abyss.

Thalia’s words from moments ago echoed in his ears: Seraphina hasn’t come back for you because she’s already found someone else.

Caspian’s body went stiff, his back ramrod straight.

Had Seraphina really moved on?

Had she really fallen in love with another man? But she had sworn she would only love him for the rest of her life.

But Caspian had forgotten. What Seraphina had said was that if he didn’t cheat, she would love him for a lifetime.

And he had been the first to break that promise.

Caspian’s chest felt like it was being squeezed, and it was hard to breathe.

So this was what heartbreak felt like.

Is this how Seraphina felt every time he was with Thalia?

No wonder she had been so desperate to leave. The pain was so unbearable.

Caspian didn’t know how long he stood there. It wasn’t until a subordinate reminded him that the shareholders’ meeting was about to start that he finally composed himself.

He told the private investigator, “Keep digging. Find out who that man is.”

Caspian took a deep breath, steadying his emotions.

He had made Seraphina fall in love with him once, he could do it again.

It was only a matter of time.

After entering the conference room, the Kingsley Corp. shareholders began to arrive.

As the meeting was about to begin, only Spencer Hayes had yet to arrive.

If it had been anyone else, Caspian wouldn’t have waited. But Spencer was different.

Even if Spencer didn’t show up at all, they couldn’t leave without him.

During the wait, the room buzzed with whispers.

“Have you heard? The new major shareholder is a woman.”

Lately, Caspian’s mind had been consumed with finding Seraphina, he’d paid little attention to other matters.

But when he heard that the company’s new largest shareholder was a woman, he couldn’t help but frown.

Traditionally, women managed the home while men handled business.

What was Spencer thinking, letting a woman hold so many shares?

18-54

The murmuring continued.

“Not only that, I heard this woman is Mr. Hayes’s fiancée.”

“Fiancée? Isn’t there a rumor that Mr. Hayes is into men? Since when did he have a fiancée?”

A shareholder whose family was also from New York, and who was well-informed, explained calmly.

“Mr. Hayes does indeed have a fiancée, and she’s the heiress of the Beaumont family.”

This piqued everyone’s curiosity.

In all of New York, the only prominent family named Beaumont was the one whose power rivaled the Hayes’.

‘But I heard the Beaumont heiress went missing long ago. So which Miss Beaumont is Mr. Hayes marrying?”

Someone who was up-to-date on the Beaumont family’s affairs explained.

Two weeks ago, the Beaumont family found their long-lost daughter. She not only inherited the Beaumont Group but is also marrying into the Hayes family,”

At this, the shareholders all praised the perfect match, then turned their attention to Caspian.

They teased, “Mr. Kingsley, we hear you and Miss Thalia Anderson are getting married soon, too. When can we expect to celebrate with you?”

Caspian’s lips twitched as he denied it.

Thalia Anderson and I have no relationship. You are all distinguished individuals, please don’t believe such rumors.”

It was an open secret that Caspian had feelings for Thalia. The crowd chuckled.

‘Mr. Kingsley, don’t be shy. I saw you leaving a hotel with the Anderson heiress just two months ago.”

The room erupted in laughter.

Caspian’s face grew increasingly dark. He pressed his lips together and said nothing.

Someone tried to lighten the mood.

‘Mr. Kingsley is just being modest. There’s no shame in liking a woman. But keeping it a secret forever isn’t really a solution, is it?”

Whenever you and Miss Anderson get married, don’t forget to invite us.”

Caspian’s face grew darker. Just as he was about to set them straight, the main doors swung open.

Spencer Hayes entered, dressed in a black suit, with a woman on his arm.
