Chapter 10 Passed By

Emma abruptly stood up before Clara could respond, her eyes, red from her tears, filled with hatred and a touch of unwillingness.
“Is this enough for you? You’d better delete all my videos.” Emma confronted her.
“Delete them? When did I ever agree to delete them? I’ll keep those videos safe.” Clara slightly curled her lips into a cold smile.
“You!” Emma raised her hand as if to hit her, but Emily quickly intervened and stopped her.
“Emma!”
Emily feared that Clara might lash out recklessly now that both mother and daughter were at Clara’s mercy, and Clara had nothing left to lose, potentially leading to mutual destruction.
“Alright, stop it. You’ve already apologized, and Clara certainly won’t spread those videos. Come on, let’s not disturb Grandma and Clara any longer. Come back to your room with me.” Emily gently tugged at Emma, but she forcefully pulled Emma away, seeing no reaction from her.
Inside the room, isolated from the outside world, Emma was so furious that she stomped back and forth, her hands clenching and unclenching, very anxious.
Emma paused for a moment when she noticed her mother silent.
“Mom, I’m sorry, I…” Emma had always been the obedient daughter at home, never doing anything out of line. Yet this time, she felt utterly humiliated, with Emily aware of her actions.
She had expected a scolding. Instead, Emily only sighed and said, “It’s alright. Just think about how to handle the current situation.”
“Mom, please don’t tell Dad about this. I’m done for if you do. I’m your daughter; you can’t leave me to fend for myself.”
Tears welled up in Emma’s eyes as she looked at her mother’s complicated expression, unable to decipher what she was thinking.
“How could I tell your father about something so disgraceful? Alright, Clara won’t spread your videos, given the situation today. For now, you should stay on the yacht, rest, and don’t provoke her again. She won’t pose any threat to you as long as you don’t bother her.” Emily patted Emma’s hand in reassurance.
She was even more worried than her daughter and left the room after speaking.
Emma angrily threw and smashed everything in the room, her tears falling in frustration. It was her tears of unwillingness.
Clara could only place her grandmother’s ashes little by little into a square box without the urn.
She bit her lip hard, holding back her tears with great effort. This scene was witnessed entirely by Michael, who had just arrived.
Michael, seated in his wheelchair, was being pushed by Eric.
“Eric, go buy an urn.” He moved his wheelchair closer to her on his own.
Clara clearly heard his request. “Thank you.”
Looking up, she noticed Michael dressed entirely in black, wearing formal mourning attire. Her eyes flashed with a trace of surprise, which quickly faded.
For some reason, she suddenly recalled that photo and the message from that woman. He already had a child with another woman and was just fulfilling his duty to her.
She was already very grateful that he was paying respect to her grandmother.
“Oh, Mr. Goodman, you’re here. Come, have some tea.” Emily immediately poured a cup of water and greeted him, a smile nearly reaching her ears.
The tea in mid-air remained untouched, and Emily’s smile gradually froze. She hurriedly placed the cup on the table beside her and quickly said, “This urn is too fragile. It fell and broke so easily.”
Clara sneered inwardly.
Emily was so afraid of offending Michael that she could lie through her teeth.
However, Emma came out of her room before Michael could say anything.
“Mom, I’m leaving.” After venting her anger, she decided it was best to follow her mother’s advice and head to the yacht as soon as possible.
However, Emma froze in shock when their eyes met.
Isn’t this man the one I blackmailed? Why is he here?
Emily was confused as she saw Michael’s unfriendly gaze on her daughter. She quickly walked over and pulled Emma closer, introducing her. “Mr. Goodman, you haven’t met her yet. This is my daughter, Emma.”
However, Michael’s sharp gaze remained locked on Emma.
Emily lightly tapped Emma’s arm. “Emma, this is Clara’s husband. This is your first formal meeting. Go on, greet him.”
Emily even tried to build a connection even at this moment.
“Miss Bennett and I have met before,” said Michael, his eyes filled with mockery.
Emma felt increasingly furious under his gaze.
So what if he has a lot of money and is the company president? In the end, Michael’s just a cripple. How can he compare to the father of my child? Not only is he wealthy, but he’s also a healthy man.
“You’ve met before?” Emily instinctively sensed that something was wrong and looked at her daughter.
“Miss Bennett is quite skilled at extortion,” replied Michael coldly.
Emma’s face turned a few shades paler.
After all, this man had resolved the Bennett Family’s crisis by providing money. Moreover, she hadn’t married into a wealthy family yet, so she couldn’t afford to fall out with him. “Mr. Goodman, that was just a misunderstanding. Mom, I’m leaving.”
Not wanting to linger, Emma hurriedly left.
Michael found her voice somewhat familiar, but he couldn’t quite place where he had heard it before.
Since Emma had been crying and venting in her room, her voice carried a slight nasal tone, which prevented Michael from immediately recognizing that Emma was the same woman known as Jade.
Soon, Eric returned with a new urn.
Clara had heard everything, but she wasn’t focused on anything else since it was her grandmother’s funeral.
She focused solely on gathering the ashes from the ground.
Eric glanced at his boss, and Michael understood.
He moved his wheelchair a little to the side.
“Mr. Goodman, I just ran into Jade at the intersection.”
“Jade?” Michael remembered that Jade had sent a text message earlier today, asking if he would be going to the yacht. She said she had something to do today, so she went home. “She probably went home. What did you say to her?”
“Jade asked where you were, but I didn’t tell her your whereabouts today. I just said you were out on business. Should I arrange another time for you to meet? Besides, the child in her womb will probably need various checkups soon.”
“You take care of it.” After chatting with Jade for a while recently, he wasn’t as eager to meet her anymore.
If Eric had told her that he was nearby, she would have likely chased after him.
Clara overheard the entire conversation and suddenly thought of the note in Michael’s phone labeled ‘Jade.’
It seems that she’s carrying his child.
