Chapter 15
When Liam woke again, he was in a hospital. The medical equipment around him was even more
advanced than before. The constant beeping gave him a headache.
Liam raised a hand, wanting to turn it off, but a wave of nausea hit his throat. At first, he vomited
what seemed to be the airplane meal, then just bitter bile.
He had to lean over the edge of the bed, gasping for a long time before it subsided.
Just then, the sound of an argument erupted outside.
Another sharp slap, accompanied by what sounded like Isabella’s crying. But Liam felt no trace of
heartache now. He didn’t know how to describe his emotion–was it a lack of energy to care for Isabella, or… had he simply stopped caring?
“You wretched woman! Who gave you the right to hit my
son!”
“My son was perfectly fine back home! He goes on one trip to Thailand with you, has cardiac arrest
on the plane there, barely recovers, and then collapses again on the flight back!”
“You could have killed him! If he doesn’t pull through, I will bury you in so many lawsuits you’ll
wish you’d never been born.”
He knew his mother had disliked Isabella since three years ago. Now… she had the perfect reason to
oppose their relationship.
Isabella’s cries grew from intermittent to loud sobs.
“Mrs. Walker, I was wrong, I was really wrong! It’s because Liam wasn’t responding to me, I got anxious, I thought he didn’t love me anymore! Please forgive me! Forgive me!”
Liam slowly pushed himself up using the bed rail, took a sip of water from the bedside table to rinse his mouth, and finally felt a bit more clear–headed.
Strangely, his throat still felt terribly uncomfortable. Now, it had progressed to a distinct sensation
of a foreign object with every normal swallow.
Perhaps hearing the noise from his room, the hospital room door was thrown open with a BANG.
Isabella was still wearing her airplane attire. She must have been brought directly to this hospital
after the incident on the plane.

Isabella rushed in, stumbled, and fell to her knees directly in front of him.
Her hands desperately clutched at his knees.
“Liam, please let me explain! I really didn’t mean it! I never meant to make you sick!”
“I didn’t know it would be so serious. Selective mutism doesn’t cause such severe reactions; I’m a
doctor, I know!”
She trembled, using the back of her hand to wipe the tears from her face.” Liam, say something, please? I know you love me, don’t you?”
Liam’s expression remained as still as water as he looked at Isabella. Perhaps it wasn’t that he
couldn’t speak now, but that he fundamentally didn’t want to.
His mother stood in the doorway, watching them, seemingly waiting for his decision.
Liam looked up and caught his assistant’s eye behind his mother. Immediately, several bodyguards filed in and began pulling the kneeling Isabella to her feet.
“No! Don’t take me away! Liam! Liam! You can’t do this to me! I came back to the country specifically for you! Don’t you remember what happened three years ago?!”
“Liam Walker!”
Isabella’s voice grew fainter, eventually disappearing down the corridor. Liam heard the clattering
sound of various objects falling. But he simply closed his eyes.
“Son, I know you’re grown and have your own mind.”
His mother walked slowly to his bedside.
“I know about the divorce from Chloe. But that’s ultimately between you two. If I objected, it
wouldn’t have led to your happiness. But is the person you’ve chosen now truly someone who will make you happy?”
“I hope you’ll think carefully.”
