Chapter 25
Liam was waiting at the airport early. When his assistant told him that Isabella had somehow obtained Chloe’s competition exam and video and posted them on a fairly authoritative medical forum. The blood roared in his ears, a hot, dizzying rush that threatened to blind him.
His hand holding the phone trembled uncontrollably.
What to do? What should he do?
He seemed to have messed up yet again.
Regardless of whether Chloe turning in a blank paper or deliberately losing was some form of protest against him, or maybe…… Liam couldn’t figure out the reason. He kept checking his phone, desperately hoping for a new message from her, but there was none.
“Mr. Walker, you cannot wait on the aircraft taxiway. Please proceed to the passenger pickup area. The airport ground crew had already stopped him three times today
.After being refused once more, Liam could only retreat to the designated area, counting the seconds as they passed.
The plane landed close to 3 AM, but Liam felt no fatigue.
The airport at 3 AM was still bustling with travelers. He finally spotted Chloe among the crowd. She
wasn’t carrying luggage, just a handbag, as if she didn’t plan to stay long.
In less than a year, Chloe seemed like a different person. Her once long hair was now a sharp bob. She wore little makeup, yet her complexion looked great.
She looked up and saw Liam too, but he didn’t dare approach.
He stiffly raised a hand in a slight wave, forced a smile, and mouthed the words, “Long time no see.
“Liam felt he made a sound, but it was very soft. She probably didn’t hear it.
Even as Chloe moved through the crowd, her face tense, and walked towards him, he felt as if the
world contained only the two of them.
He slightly opened his arms, tentatively hoping for a hug, but Chloe stopped about a meter away.
Liam offered a self–deprecating smile, awkwardly lowered his arms, and guided Chloe out of the

airport to his waiting SUV.
The driver in the front seat, without turning around, glanced in the rearview mirror and asked, “Mr. Walker, where to?” Liam momentarily panicked, unsure of the best destination.
After thinking for a moment, he managed an answer.
“Back… back home… I suppose.” The driver glanced again in the rearview mirror, his expression showing clear surprise
.He seemed to want to ask which home, but upon seeing Chloe, he understood and simply nodded slightly before starting the car.
But Chloe spoke up.
“Liam Walker, don’t bother.” Liam looked up and met Chloe’s clear eyes, which showed almost no discernible emotion.
“Take me to my own family’s home. It’s about half an hour away. That should be enough time for us to talk.” Liam’s eyes dimmed instantly. He waved his hand, signaling the driver to follow Chloe’s directions.
Once the car smoothly entered the highway, Chloe finally spoke.
“Liam Walker, you should know I’ve explicitly rejected you. Why do you keep harassing me?”
Hearing this, Liam’s heart skipped a beat, filled with immense panic.
He moved his lips slightly but couldn’t form a response.
