Chapter 6: Yes, I’ve Been to Prison

Yes, I’ve been to prison.Lily’s gaze swept over the crowd, finally resting on Eliza’s face

Eliza tried to grab Lily’s hand. Lily, stop talking nonsense. I’ve already said, it was just a slip of the tongue. I didn’t mean it.”

Lily pulled her hand away violently, not wanting Eliza to touch her

In her sudden movement, Eliza somehow stepped on her dress and fell to the ground

The fall was not light, and she landed amidst the broken glass from the wine glass that had fallen earlier

Mateo immediately rushed over, cutting through the crowd, and grabbed Eliza, lifting her up

Eliza’s palm was a mess of blood and flesh, with several shards stuck in her skin

Mateo’s eyes flashed with anger as he glared at Lily, his eyes bloodshot, Lily, you still haven’t learned! I warned you”

Lily’s heart trembled. Despite knowing Mateo didn’t care about her, seeing him protect another woman still made her feel cold

What did I do? I just pulled my hand back. She’s the one who fell,Lily said, staring at their interlocked hands with bitter sarcasm

She lowered her eyes and gently touched a spot on her chest

There was a jade pendant hidden there, a gift from someone from the past

In prison, during the countless times she had nearly broken down, it was that jade pendant that helped her get through

When she looked up again, her gaze became cold

She forced a smile and continued, Yes, I’ve been to prison, but I was framed.”

Wren’s face turned pale when she heard Lily publicly admit to being in such a place

When Eliza first brought up Lily’s imprisonment, she suspected it was intentional

But seeing Eliza apologize in front of everyone and trying to cover the matter up, Wren thought it was just a mistake

She had watched Eliza grow up. How could she have such bad intentions

Wren didn’t want things to escalate and tried to minimize the situation. Lily, you must have drunk too much. Let me have someone help you upstairs to sober up.”

Lily acted as though she didn’t hear her, continuing

Three years ago, if I had really kidnapped her, I would have had a thousand ways to make Eliza disappear. Why would I leave clues for you to find her?”

Slap!”

A heavy slap landed on Lily’s face. Derek appeared from the study, his face cold. Lily, what nonsense are you talking about? Shut up!”

Her cheek burned, but Lily didn’t care

Back then, Eliza only had minor injuries. If those people really wanted to assault her, they could have done so when they were putting her in the car. Why go through the trouble of taking her to an abandoned factory? Isn’t that overkill?”

Chapter 6: Yes, I’ve Been to Prison

The onlookers were shocked, their eyes widening in disbelief

Eliza almost got raped by thugs

The gazes around the room shifted to Eliza, and she bit her lip, her face pale

Derek was furious. This was a taboo in the Foster family, something no one had dared to mention in the past three years. Yet, Lily not only brought it

up but did so in front of so many people

It was a joke

One daughter went to prison, and the other nearly got assaulted, all because the sisters were fighting

They had embarrassed themselves in front of everyone

Eliza, on the other hand, was already in tears, her head lowered, her shoulders trembling, with tears falling in large drops

Lily sneered. Was this all it took for her to break down

Compared to her own experiences, what was this

Wren glared at Lily, signaling for her to stop. This matter had already been settled three years ago. She and Derek had agreed to send Lily to prison to be reformedbecause she had refused to admit her mistakes. They had thought she was hopeless

She had even wondered if they had been too harsh on her. After all, Lily was still a daughter of the Foster family

But Eliza said it was precisely because Lily was a member of the Foster family that those in prison didn’t dare to do anything to her. They thought that by sending her to prison, she would learn to behave and avoid going down a wrong path

Wren thought that made sense. After all, Lily had grown up around Jessica

And who was Jessica

She raised a gambling son who did nothing all day. Lily had grown up in such an environment, and it was clear that her character needed some

refining

Lily, why bring this up?Wren asked angrily, her face showing clear displeasure. Can’t you see your sister is crying?”

Lily’s cold face held a hint of sarcasm. Yeah, I just did three years in prison for her, but sure, she’s the one crying.”

Part 1 – The Message That Shattered Everything

Aveline Russell’s peaceful evening ended the moment her phone buzzed.
One unread message changed her life: blurred photos of a hotel room, clothes scattered, a man’s familiar frame.
Her heart froze when she recognized the wrist—Jaxson Thorne, her mate of four years and Alpha of the Thornpeak Pack.
The date on the pictures was crueler still: it was their mating-anniversary night, the day he’d sworn they’d celebrate together.
He’d told her he was away on urgent pack business.
Now she understood the truth—his “urgent mission” had been an affair.

Part 2 – The Weight of Betrayal

For a long moment, Aveline couldn’t breathe.
Every memory—their first bond, his promises, his laugh—now felt like poison.
Her wolf spirit stirred in the back of her mind, restless and angry.
That instinct had always disliked Jaxson; she’d ignored it, blinded by love.
Now her wolf’s growl inside her head said what her heart refused to admit: He was never yours in truth.
Aveline exhaled sharply, tears drying into determination.
If Jaxson could betray her so easily, she would choose herself for the first time.

Part 3 – The Call of No Return

She opened her contacts and dialed a hidden number—the Bloodmoon Research Facility.
When the voice on the other end answered, she spoke calmly:

“I’ve decided to join.”
A stunned silence followed.
The official warned her what that meant: once inside the classified project, she would vanish from every record—no family, no pack, no past.
Her name, her life, her identity would all be erased.
“Are you ready to walk away from Alpha Jaxson?” the voice asked.
Aveline stared at a framed photo of them smiling together and whispered, “Yes. I’m ready.”
It was the first honest answer she’d given in years.

Part 4 – The Wolf Within

After the call, she sat in the dark, feeling her wolf awaken fully.
The beast within her—the same one Jaxson had mocked as too quiet, too gentle—rose with fierce pride.
It wanted revenge, but more than that, it wanted freedom.
For the first time, Aveline listened.
Her wolf’s steady heartbeat echoed through her veins, whispering that she was born for more than heartbreak.
She was still a healer, still a warrior, still a woman capable of rebuilding from ashes.

Part 5 – The Alpha Returns

Headlights flashed outside.
The front door opened, and Jaxson Thorne walked in as though nothing had happened.
He loosened his black tie, tossed his jacket on the hook—carrying the unmistakable scent of another woman’s perfume—and disappeared into the bathroom.
Aveline stood frozen.
Every sound—the running water, the creak of the floor—felt like thunder.
She wasn’t angry anymore; she was empty.
When he finally emerged in his robe, hair damp, muscles glistening, she realized how much power he once held over her.
That power was gone now.

Part 6 – The Perfume of Another

The air between them thickened with the scent of betrayal.
Jaxson smiled faintly, stepping closer.
“What’s with that look?” he asked playfully. “Miss me, babe?”
He wrapped an arm around her waist, his touch as casual as it was possessive.
Once, that warmth would have made her melt.
Now it felt suffocating.
Aveline stepped back.
The move caught him off guard; his brows furrowed.
“Are you upset again? Did someone bother you?”
He said it like a man used to being forgiven before the apology even began.

Part 7 – The Calm Before Goodbye

Aveline took a long, steady breath.
She could have screamed. She could have thrown the phone at him.
Instead, she turned to the drawer and retrieved a small locked box.
“Here,” she said quietly, handing it to him. “A gift.”
Her tone was so controlled that he almost smiled, thinking she’d finally softened.
Inside that box wasn’t jewelry or a token of affection—it was the legal document severing their mate bond.
Her signature glimmered at the bottom in dark ink.
For a heartbeat, she felt the invisible thread between them strain, preparing to snap.

Part 8 – The Wolf’s Decision

He looked puzzled, but she didn’t wait for his reaction.
She spoke evenly, her voice stripped of emotion.
“Four years, Jaxson. I gave you loyalty, trust, and love. You gave me lies.”
He opened his mouth to defend himself, but she raised a hand.
“No more excuses. You don’t have to explain the perfume, the late nights, the missing anniversaries. I already know.”
Her wolf stirred proudly at her strength.
This wasn’t the weak woman who used to beg him to stay.
This was the beginning of something new.

Part 9 – The Rebirth of Aveline

When Jaxson tried to reach for her again, she stepped aside.
His hand grazed the air where she once stood.
“You’ll regret this,” he said flatly, his pride pricked.
Aveline met his gaze without flinching.
“No,” she answered. “For the first time, I won’t.”
Her words cut deeper than any weapon.
Then she walked past him, out into the cold night, her wolf pacing inside her chest like a heartbeat of liberation.
In the distance, the moon hung low and red—an omen of endings, and beginnings.

Part 10 – The Alpha’s Fall, the Luna’s Rise

When Aveline closed the door behind her, Jaxson stood frozen with the open box in his hand.
He finally saw what she’d given him: the rejection papers that dissolved their bond.
The Alpha who thought he could own her had just been abandoned by the one woman who had ever loved him sincerely.
Outside, Aveline didn’t look back.
Tomorrow, she would join the Bloodmoon Research Facility, vanish from every record, and be reborn under a new name.
Her old life would die here tonight.
In its place, something stronger would rise—the woman her wolf had always known she could become.
Betrayed by her mate, freed by her pain, Aveline Russell walked into the dark with her head held high.
For once, the silence didn’t hurt.
It sounded like freedom.
