Chapter 7: Let’s Destroy It Together
Chapter 7: Let’s Destroy It Together
Lily crouched down and lifted the edge of her dress, exposing the ugly scar on her ankle for everyone to see. The room fell silent.
“But why is no one concerned if I’m hurt?”
Her fingers gently traced the wound.
It was a gloomy, rainy day, and the scar ached a little, but she was used to it by now.
“I’ve always wondered, who among you paid off the female prisoners, allowing them to do this to me? I have dozens of scars, would you like to see them?”
They said it was Mateo, but Lily didn’t believe it. She was going to find out, in front of everyone, who was really behind it.
When the rich girls saw the scar, they showed uncomfortable expressions. They were all pampered from a young age, never having endured such hardship.
“Was it you?” Lily looked at Derek and Wren, quickly turning her gaze to Eliza. “Or was it you?”
Finally, her gaze swept over Mateo’s face and then coldly turned away.
Seeing Lily expose her ugly scar to everyone, Mateo felt a strange sensation in his heart.
Now, it seemed she didn’t care about him anymore, but a bitter feeling surged in his chest.
For years, Lily had followed him, carefree.
He had gotten used to it…
“Lily, please….stop talking. If it means that much to you, I’ll give up the title of the Foster family’s heiress,” Eliza’s voice trembled as she held her head in her hands, interrupting Lily’s words.
“It’s my fault, all my fault. I shouldn’t have shamelessly stayed in the Foster family. I should have died in that wasteland three years ago.”

“But you suffered in prison? What does that have to do with me, or with Mom and Dad?” Eliza’s voice grew shaky, her tears threatening to fall but still holding back.
“The people in prison are all scum. You brought this on yourself. If you hadn’t made a mistake, you wouldn’t have been locked up, and they wouldn’t have bullied you.”
“Mateo, you shouldn’t have saved me. You should have just let me die,” she said, completely dismissing the suffering Lily had endured.
Lily looked at Eliza with cold eyes. “If someone truly wanted to die, they wouldn’t keep saying it.”
“Lily!”
Mateo’s brows furrowed as he moved to protect Eliza, patting her hand gently before turning to Lily. “I remember warning you before we came. Think before you speak. Do you know the consequences of causing such a scene today?”
A bitter smile crossed Lily’s lips.
Her brokenness, her exposing the scars she most wanted to hide, was just seen as making a scene in Mateo’s eyes.
“Yes, I’m making a scene. But you’re my fiancé Shouldn’t you stand by my side unconditionally? Mateo, what does it mean for you to protect other women in front of me?”

Chapter 7: Let’s Destroy It Together
At Lily’s reminder, everyone suddenly realized.
Wasn’t Mateo Lily’s fiancé? Why had he been supporting Eliza all along?
In the three years Lily was gone, rumors had begun to swirl.
Recently, whenever Mateo’s company had a bid, Eliza’s name was always involved, almost like she was the one handling it all.
It seemed normal at first, but there were just too many instances where they appeared together.
But because Eliza and Lily were sisters, no one thought anything of it. In high society, appearances mattered, and no one would consider something like this happening within their own family.
However, with Lily’s subtle hint, everyone began to think–did Mateo and Eliza have something going on?
The older sister seduced her younger sister’s fiancé?
Goodness, what a scandalous plot.
It was melodramatic, but it certainly caught the interest of the rich wives‘ gossiping hearts.
High society wasn’t lacking in gossip, but fresh gossip was always the best–especially when it involved the Gates family and the Foster family.
Lily smiled at Eliza. “I’ve always had the Foster family’s blood in me. Do you really need to give me the position of eldest daughter?”
She slightly curled her lips, her eyes glittering with a spark.
The long–accumulated emotions suddenly erupted. Lily walked to the decanter, her long fingers picking it up. “So you think I drugged her, huh?”
She took a big gulp from the bottle, the strong taste filling her mouth. “Fine, I drugged myself. Are you satisfied now?”
The strong, bitter taste spread across her mouth as the liquid spilled over her lips and onto her clothes.
She took two more gulps and forcefully tossed the decanter in front of Eliza.
The sound of the porcelain shattering echoed through the hall, the broken pieces scattered across the floor.
And Lily, too, had shattered.
