Jessica had caught up and was now knocking on Stanley’s car window.
Wendy turned to him in panic. “Jessica’s here!”
“Ignore her,” Stanley said firmly.
“But she’s right outside.”
“She can’t see in. Let her knock if she wants to.”
Jessica really had followed them. She couldn’t stand how cold Stanley had been toward her. When she spotted his fancy car parked nearby, she ran over and started knocking on the window.
But after a while, there was still no response from inside.
Jessica knew Stanley was in there. There was only one explanation–he was ignoring her. Annoyed, she pulled out her phone and dialed his number.
The cheerful ringtone echoed inside the car. Stanley’s phone was ringing.
Wendy immediately pushed him away. “She’s calling you. You should answer.”
“I don’t want to,” he muttered.
“If you don’t, she’ll just keep calling!”
Wendy knew Jessica all too well. Sure enough, when Stanley didn’t pick up, Jessica called again. And again.
Stanley still refused to answer.
Before long, Jessica started to get suspicious. What was he doing in there all alone? He hadn’t driven off, and he wasn’t answering his phone.
Then, it hit her. Could Wendy be with him?
Jessica quickly searched for Wendy’s number and called it.
Inside the car, Wendy’s phone began to ring.
Wendy wasn’t surprised. She sighed and pulled it out. “See? You ignored her, and now she’s calling me.‘
Stanley looked at her flushed face and the kiss marks still on her lips. Jessica’s persistence irritated him. “I’ll have someone get rid of her.”
Wendy said calmly, “You’re still under the Heartchain Curse. You might get rid of Jessica, but what about the curse? We shouldn’t see each other anymore.” 1
Stanley’s lips pressed into a thin, hard line.
“Fine,” Wendy continued, “have someone take care of Jessica first. Then I’ll get out of the car. She can’t see us together.”

Stanley suddenly chucked.
“Why are you laughing?” she asked.
“Why shouldn’t she see us together? She’s right outside. I’ll show her right now.”
Before Wendy could stop him, he lowered the car window.
Her heart skipped a beat. She hadn’t expected Stanley to be this reckless. He rolled down the window right in front of Jessica, giving Wendy no chance to hide what was happening.
Wendy quickly crouched down and curled up near his legs, hiding in the corner.
She looked up and shot him a furious glare.
Seeing her like that actually put Stanley in a better mood. It almost felt as if they were sneaking around having an affair.
As the window came down, Jessica’s face lit up with a bright smile. “I knew you were in there! Why didn’t you answer my calls?”
Stanley looked at her coldly. “Do you need something?”
“Can I get in?” she asked sweetly.
Get in?
Wendy quickly grabbed his pant leg and shook her head, telling him not to let Jessica in.
She stayed curled up by his knees, her eyes soft and pleading, glimmering with tears. Stanley swallowed hard.
“No.”
Jessica’s smile faltered. “We’re about to get married. Why are you treating me like this? Don’t you remember how close we used to be when we were dating? You used to want me so badly! My biggest regret is not giving myself to you back then!”
