Chapter 1138
Nathan said, “My assistants and secretaries are all men. There are no women around me, so you don’t have to worry,”
Ivy blinked. Was he…explaining himself to her?
She knew she was only sweet–talking him because she wanted to get pregnant, but the more time she spent with Nathan, the more she noticed all the bright parts of him.
He really was a good man.
With his status and his looks, he was pretty much the highest level you could get in an arranged marriage. Nathan opened the passenger door for her like a gentleman. “Get in.”
Ivy climbed in, and Nathan got behind the wheel. He stepped on the gas, and the luxury car took off.
Half an hour later, they arrived at the movie theater. It was a weekday, so there weren’t many people. Nathan held the movie tickets, then spotted the concession stand. “Do you want popcorn?”
Ivy had only been to a movie once, when she was very young. She had come with her parents.
Tabitha had held her hand. She remembered seeing the popcorn and tugging Edric’s sleeve, saying, “Dad, I want popcorn.”
Edric had said, “I’ll get it.”
He went to buy it, but just then his phone rang. He answered, ran off, and never came back. He left her and Tabitha there alone.
Later, she learned that it was the day his mistress gave birth to Kate.
Looking at the popcorn stand now pulled her straight back to that memory, the deepest wound in her childhood.
Nathan let go of her hand and walked off to buy popcorn.
Two girls walking by spotted him and whispered excitedly, “Look, he’s hot!”
“Forget it. He’s clearly buying popcorn for his girlfriend.”
Soon, Nathan returned, carrying a large tub. “Here.”
Ivy took it. “Thanks.”
She popped one piece into her mouth, and the sweet smell filled her tongue instantly. The popcorn was really
sweet.
Nathan watched her. “Taste good?”
Ivy nodded. “Yeah.”

She picked up a piece and held it to his lips, “Try one.”
Nathan opened his mouth and ate it.
“Good, right?” Ivy asked.
He nodded. “Yeah.”
Ivy smiled. She knew he didn’t actually like sweets at all.
Nathan checked his watch. “The movie’s about to start. Let’s go in.”
“Okay.”
They walked into the theater. No one else was inside. Martin had booked a private couple’s suite.
They sat down, and Ivy asked, “What movie are we watching?”
Nathan replied, “I asked Martin to pick a romance.”
The film began.
The male and female leads fell in love at first sight, but the girl’s mother didn’t approve of their marriage, so they tearfully broke up.
The scene was surprisingly touching. Ivy even shed tears.
Nathan handed her a tissue.
“Thanks,” she whispered.
Nathan found it amusing. “What’s there to cry about?”
Ivy sniffled. “You don’t think it’s sweet or moving?”
“No,” Nathan said calmly. “They’re broke. Instead of falling in love, they should be figuring out how to make money.”
Ivy stared. That was…definitely a CEO mindset.
But then she noticed something strange. The tone of the movie suddenly shifted.
The couple didn’t want to separate. They hugged tightly, started taking off their clothes, and then…
