Chapter 30: Signed To Be His Mistress For Life
Gia’s POV
I stood there, fingers tightening around the polished door of Dante’s office.
Grace had said he wanted to see me urgently, and my mind had been spinning ever since. Had I done something to upset him? Was I about to walk into another punishment, or worse? But there was only one way to find out.
I pushed the door open.
He was behind his desk, head bent over a stack of documents, but he glanced up the second I entered. As always, he was in black, a fitted shirt that clung to the breadth of his shoulders and chest, his hair perfectly slicked back. He looked every inch the decent businessman you would see on the Forbes list. But no one would guess the truth, that beneath that facade, he was a mafia king.
I lingered by the door, nerves holding me back, until his voice cut through the silence, low, commanding, undeniable.
“Closer, Gia.”
My feet moved before my brain caught up, carrying me toward him until I stood directly in front of his desk.
He leaned casually against his seat, his dark eyes dragging over me in that way that made it impossible to breathe.
“Sit.”
I lowered myself into the chair opposite him, spine stiff, not relaxing into the seat.
Dante reached for a sleek black folder resting at the corner of his desk and slid it across the wooden surface toward
- me.
My brows furrowed. “What is this?”
“The updated mistress contract,” his voice smooth, like it was nothing more than a business transaction.
My mouth parted, but no words came out.
“You can go through it,” he added, his tone almost casual. Almost. “And sign.”
I lowered my gaze to the folder, fingers racing as I opened it.
My eyes followed the neat, printed lines. *Mistress Contract with Gianna Giovanni.*
Promises laid out in black and white: protection, housing, food, clothes, vacations, even an allowance bigger than anything my father had ever given me.
He had thought of everything. It didn’t read like a contract so much as him buying peace of mind, as much as he was buying me.
I turned the pages faster, my pulse climbing with every flip. I wasn’t searching for luxuries, I was hunting for the one thing that mattered.
The words blurred until, finally, at the very end, I saw it. Relief washed through me as I read it in black and white: he would cover all tuition, books, and expenses. But my relief dimmed as I read further. I would be escorted by bodyguards to and from class. No parties. No friends. No staying late. Straight home after lectures.
I wanted to roll my eyes, to scoff at the arrogance of it all, but I stayed perfectly still. After what happened the last

time I disobeyed him, I wasn’t foolish enough to test him here.
Besides, this leash was no different from the one I’d been under in my father’s house.
My eyes drifted to the final page, and froze.
Another clause stared back at me, written with chilling clarity: No other lover. No partner but him. Mine. For life.
My throat went dry. Mine, for life. Did he really mean it like that?
Beneath it, another line: Failure to comply will result in punishment as deemed fit by Dante De Luca.
Punishment. My stomach twisted. He would own not just my body, but my every choice. My every mistake.
And what about him? I couldn’t stop the thought from rising. Who would hold him accountable if he took another lover? If he wanted a bed full of women, I’d be powerless to stop him.
The image made my chest tighten. Was that… jealousy? God. Why did I care? I shouldn’t care.
My only goal was escape. To disappear far from him, far from my father’s enemies. To find a place where none of them could reach me. That’s what I should want, freedom.
So why did the thought of him with someone else feel like a knife twisting inside me?
The soft click of a pen sliding across the desk snapped me out of my thoughts.
“As you can see,” Dante’s gaze cut through me, “I updated it to include your little college request. I trust that means you won’t be giving me any more trouble.”
My eyes dropped to the contract, then back on him. My entire life, about to be signed away. And in truth, I had no choice.
Slowly, I reached out, my fingertips brushing his as I took it.
“Is this even legal?” The words slipped out before I could stop them.
His jaw ticked, impatience flashing across his mouth.
“Sign the bloody contract before I change my mind, and strip that clause out altogether.”
My breath caught. I didn’t even have time to think. The threat of losing my one condition drove my hand forward, scrawling my name across the final page. With one stroke of ink, I sealed away my freedom. 1
When it was done, I set the pen down, fingers trembling. I looked up at him, my heart pounding.
“What now?”
His gaze lingered on my signature before lifting to me.
“Now that I’ve done something for you. I want you to do something for me in return.”
A bitter laugh slipped past my lips. “I already agreed to sign away my body, everything to you. For life. Isn’t that enough?”
He leaned back in his chair, studying me like I was some puzzle he intended to take apart.
“You haven’t given me all of you yet,” he said slowly. “But in time…”
I scoffed, my eyes following him as he pulled open a drawer. Papers shifted, then he slid a file across the desk

toward me.
“Now that it’s been sealed in ink that you’re mine,” his voice low and final. “That means you can only be loyal to me, and no one else. Not even your father has as much right over you as I do now.”
My chest heaved at his audacity. Loyalty? After everything?
“Loyalty isn’t just given, it’s earned. Besides, why would I betray my father… for the man who bought me like a common whore?”
Fury darkened his features.
“Because I’m the only reason you’re still breathing. Without me, your father’s enemies would have cut you open and dumped your body in some forgotten ditch without a second thought.”
Fear shot through me. I remembered those men at the club, their eyes, their laughter, their hunger. I’d seen what they were capable of.
I shrugged. “Fine. What do you
want?”
His mouth curved into a sharp smirk. “Good girl.”
He opened the file, spreading three photographs across the desk.
“I need you to tell me which of these men your father was working with. And don’t you dare lie to me.”
My eyes traced the images, blood draining from my face. I only recognized one, Augusto Vitale. He used to visit the house, his presence always followed by secret meetings in my father’s study. My father had called him his closest friend.
The thought of betraying him made bile rise in my throat. But if I didn’t give Dante something… punishment would follow. And I couldn’t take any more.
My hands trembled as I pointed to the photo at the far end.
“Him. This man. Augusto Vitale. He came to the house a few times. He and my father would lock themselves in his study for hours.”
Dante’s lips tugged into a brief smile, as though I had only confirmed what he already knew.
“Good,” he said simply.
I swallowed, uneasy. “How come you believe me this time?”
“Because I can read you more than you know.” His dark eyes pierced into every layer of my skin, sending instant heat through me.
“Your eyes were twitching. Your fingers were restless. Plus I already knew it was Augusto. This was a test, and you passed.”
A scoff burned in my throat. “A test? Seriously?”
“Yes.” He pulled the drawer open again, retrieving a small package. When he set it on the desk, I reached for it cautiously. Inside was the newest iPhone 17.
I turned it over in my hands, examining it from side to side. “What is this? A gift? Or another test?”
He leaned back, ignoring the question. “Everything you need is installed. And every time I call, you answer on the

first ring. The phone stays with you at all times.”
I sighed, shaking my head. “I was right. Not a gift. A leash. To control me. To monitor me.”
He smirked. “Think of it as both.” His voice dropped, warning. “And don’t do anything stupid.”
“I’ll try not to,” I muttered under my breath.
“Dismissed.” He flicked his wrist toward the door like I was nothing more than an employee.
Dismissed? What the hell? Like he could just wave me off, like I wasn’t a human being who had just signed her life
away.
I rolled my eyes, clutching the phone tight in my palm, as I rose and walked out of his office.
I was fuming, at his arrogance, at his control, at the fact that I had just signed away my life. Bound myself to him in ways I hadn’t even begun to comprehend.
