Chapter 1145
Of course, Ivy had to dodge Nathan. She was pregnant now, and during the early stages of pregnancy, she couldn’t sleep with him.
To be honest, she hadn’t even thought about intimacy yet. Before, as long as she didn’t take the initiative, Nathan wouldn’t either.
She hadn’t expected him to suddenly want to shower together tonight.
Ivy still hadn’t figured out how to tell him about the pregnancy, so she could only turn him down gently. “I just got home. I want to take a shower first.”
Nathan looked at her fresh, makeup–free face. His hand tightened as he pulled her closer. “You don’t want to shower with me? Have you forgotten how you used to cling to me? Or are you playing hard to get now?”
Ivy was instantly speechless. Heaven knew she was absolutely not playing hard to get.
“I’m not,” she said quickly, afraid he would start suspecting something. Her hand rested on his silk pajamas. ” People say couples need to keep a little distance sometimes, or things lose their spark. If I shower with you all the time, I’m afraid you’ll get tired of me too fast.”
you pull at night, do you really think
Nathan really did enjoy her sweet talk. He curved his lips. “With all the tricks you pull at night, do I’d get tired of you?”
Ivy’s face flushed. Now that she was pregnant, she needed to behave herself. Everything from before was officially in the past.
“My stomach has been acting weird today,” Ivy said.
Nathan paused, his expression turning serious. “What’s wrong with your stomach? Have you seen a doctor?”
“My period is about to come. I feel a little uncomfortable, so let’s not do it tonight,” Ivy replied.
Nathan immediately loosened his hold on her. “Alright, I get it. Go take your shower.”
“Okay,” Ivy said.
She walked into the bathroom.
Watching her close the door, Nathan smiled faintly. He lifted the blanket, got into bed, and handled some work on his phone.
After Ivy finished showering and came out, she saw that Nathan was busy working and didn’t disturb him. Just then, her phone rang.
She picked it up and saw it was Edric calling.
Ivy wasn’t surprised at all. She knew Edric would call. It had just happened faster than she expected.
She walked out onto the balcony and answered. “Hello, Dad.”
Edric’s voice came through. He could barely hold back his anger. “You still remember I’m your dad, huh? I thought I was dead to you already.”
There was no emotion in Ivy’s eyes, only faint mockery. “What exactly are you so angry about?”
Edric snapped, “Don’t play dumb! You know exactly why I’m angry. I just got Kate into Quinn Corporation, and

today, your grandpa had HR fire her. They even threw all her belongings outside. Everyone was watching her get humiliated. She came home and cried her eyes out.”
“So Kate cried,” Ivy said calmly. “What does her crying have to do with me?”
“How long are you going to keep pretending? You must have told your grandpa. That’s why he gave the order.”
Ivy tightened her grip on the phone.
“Since you already know I did this, why did you still call me?” she said, her tone soft. “Aren’t you afraid I’d make one phone call to Grandpa and tell him you’re disturbing my rest? He’d probably have all your calls blocked.”
Edric shouted angrily, “Ivy!”
“I’ve called you Dad for so many years, but did you really think I ever saw you as my father?”
“I can’t believe I have such an ungrateful daughter.”
“I’m not an ungrateful daughter. I was never your daughter to begin with. Have you ever treated me like your daughter for even one day? You only ever had Kate in your heart,” Ivy shot back.
