She figured if she kept bringing up the project, she’d just end up annoying him, so she wisely kept her mouth shut.
She remained silent, quietly sitting to the side.
It wasn’t until the car pulled up in front of the Finley residence that Marina finally stole a cautious glance at Daron sitting beside her.
He still had his eyes closed, and she couldn’t tell if he was actually asleep or just pretending. Still, she greeted him politely out of courtesy.
“Mr. Zamora, I’m home,” she said.
At her words, Daron opened his eyes, his deep, dark gaze landing on her. There was a hint of emotion in his eyes that she couldn’t quite decipher.
Marina pressed her lips together and got out of the car.
As Marina was getting out of the car, Daron, who hadn’t planned to say anything, suddenly reached out and grabbed her wrist.
“We return to Sicester first thing in the morning,” he said, his voice low.
Marina nodded. “Okay.”
She had already planned to head back to Sicester tomorrow anyway.
Daron shot her a brief, intense glance before finally looking away
Marina closed the car door, and the driver quickly pulled away.
She kept watching until Daron’s car was out of sight.
She glanced down at her hand, the image of Daron holding it in the game room flashing through her mind. After taking a deep breath to steady herself, she headed inside the Finley residence.
Elnora didn’t go to the office today. She was working from home.
As Marina walked into the living room, Elnora’s assistant was just coming out of the office.
When the assistant saw Marina, she gave her a respectful nod before quickly leaving.
Marina knocked on the door and stepped into Elnora’s office.
Elnora was reviewing documents at her desk. She glanced up at Marina, then returned to her work.
“You’re back,” Elnora said coldly.
Marina pressed her lips together, her voice barely above a whisper. “Elnora, aren’t you even curious where I was last night?”
Elnora replied, “Weren’t you
with Daron?”
Marina felt a pang in her chest. She scooted closer to Elnora, sneaking a peek at the papers on her desk, her voice turning a little pouty. “Are you really not worried at all about me being with him?”

Elnora replied, “If Daron’s fine with you being around him, why should I be worried? Besides, I called you last night.”
Marina stayed silent,
She pulled out her phone and checked her call history. Sure enough, there was a call from Elnora in the middle of the night,
Turns out the call had been answered, but Daron never bothered to mention it to her.
Elnora said offhandedly while working through her paperwork. If you’re not planning on getting married anytime soon, make sure you’re being safe.”
Marina’s cheeks burned at Elnora’s casual tone, and she mumbled, “Come on, sis, what are you talking about? Me and Daron didn’t do anything.”
Elnora just gave a noncommittal hum, her voice steady. “Just saying, if you ever think about it, be careful.”
Marina stayed silent.
“This conversation is going nowhere, Marina thought, feeling a little awkward.
She quickly changed the subject.
“Mr. Zamora took me to see a project this morning,” Marina said, trying to change the subject.
Elnora put aside her paperwork and looked up at her, waiting for her to go on.
Marina pulled out the chair across from Elnora’s desk and sat down.
“Elnora, there’s a new adventure game center called ‘Xcape‘ over on Sycamore Road. Mr. Zamora and I tried it out together today. The experience was awesome. The gear and the whole setup were way more intense than anything else you’ll find in other places right now,” Marina shared.
Elnora just nodded and went back to her paperwork.
Noticing her sister wasn’t really interested, Marina got a little anxious and blurted out, “Elnora, this project barely needs any upfront cash, and the returns are super steady. Doesn’t the Finley family have a few empty commercial buildings lying around? If we develop those, we could totally outshine that place on Sycamore Road!”
Marina continued enthusiastically, “I already mentioned teaming up with Mr. Zamora, but since I’m working at the Zamora Group now, it just feels kind of awkward for me to talk about splitting profits.”
Elnora just gave a noncommittal hum before she asked steadily, What did he say when you brought it up?”
Thinking back to Daron’s weird expression, Marina muttered, “He said I was a corporate spy.”
Elnora raised an eyebrow. “Just make sure you handle things at Ross Group properly. Don’t worry about the Finley Group, I’ve got it covered. Splitting your focus is a big no–no in business. He probably called you that because he’s ticked off.”
Marina thought back to how Daron had stayed silent and ignored her afterward, and she nodded slightly.
‘He really was pissed, Marina thought to herself.
She didn’t want to make him mad.
With Elnora not in the best shape lately, Marina knew she couldn’t just let any good opportunity for the Finley Group slip by. She had to step up and fight for it.
Elnora flipped through her papers, her tone cool and detached.

“He talked to me about this project ages ago. The Finley Group is already reached out to the game designer, the said
Marina’s eyes widened in surprise.
“Already reaching out to the designer?” she asked.
‘Daron really knows how to keep his mouth shut, Marina though. I was laying it on thick, and he didn’t spill a thing
Elnora nodded.
Marina leaned forward, unable to hide her curiosity.
“So, how are we splitting the profits?”
Elnora replied, “No splitting. All the profits go straight to the Finley Group
Marina’s eyes widened in surprise. “He actually agreed to that?”
Elnora replied calmly, “Yeah, that was his idea from the start. Daron might be all bark and no bite, but deep down, he’s a softie. Out of all our classmates, he and Finn are the only ones who truly know what loyalty means”
Marina nodded quietly.
Ever since she’d been back in Vrufield, it really hit her. Compared to her old classmates, Daron was the only one who felt genuinely alive, with real feelings and loyalty.
Thinking about Mallory and her little clique, Marina honestly felt that even putting Daron in the same sentence as them was an insult to him.
“Elnora, I’m heading back to Sicester tomorrow,” Marina said.
Elnora nodded. “Yeah, work comes first.”
Marina bit her lip. “With me gone, make sure you actually follow the doctor’s orders and don’t overwork yourself, okay?”
As she spoke, she pulled out a bank card and set it on the desk.
“This is the money I won yesterday. It’s three million dollars. It’s just a drop in the bucket compared to the Finley Group’s debt, but it should help us breathe a little easier. Elnora, take it,” Marina said.
Elnora didn’t hesitate. She just took the card from Marina and put it away.
“Alright,” Elnora replied.
The card Marina gave Elnora last time was still untouched.
Thanks to Daron’s cooperation, the Finley Group had managed to sell off most of its idle properties. The Finley Group could finally breathe a little easier.
Elnora was feeling pretty confident about the Finley Group’s big revamp this time. She was sure it wouldn’t take long before the Finley Group could finally get out of this mess. And if they could get some outside help, there’s no reason the Finley Group couldn’t rise to the top again.
Elnora looked up at Marina, her gaze turning heavy.
She said, “Anna…if you had to sacrifice your marriage so the Finley Group could have a truly brilliant future, would you do
