Bastian

The moment I stepped into the office that morning, I felt ita sharp, focused energy coursing through me. Today was the day. Everything I had set in motion was about to fall into place. I was ready to make Kaelen Darkridge pay for everything he’d done

Ben was already waiting for me when I entered my office, a smug grin plastered on his face as he leaned against the edge of my desk

I’ve got good news for you, Alpha,” Ben said, unable to hide his excitement

I raised an eyebrow. What is it?”

Kaelen and his wife, Alara, are going to the beach today. Alone,” he said, his grin widening. Perfect opportunity to move forward with the plan.”

I felt a rush of satisfaction flood through me. The beach was the perfect setting. Casual, public, and utterly unavoidable. This was where Kaelen would be confronted with a truth he couldn’t escape. But it wasn’t going to be just me confronting him. No, I had a more elegant solution in

mind

I picked up my phone and dialed Kaida’s number. She answered on the second ring

Bastian?Kaida’s voice was soft, a little hesitant. “What’s going on?”

Nothing much,” I replied, keeping my tone light. I was thinkingWhy don’t we go to the beach today? The weather’s perfect, and you could use a break.”

There was a pause on the other end of the line. The beach? I don’t knowI don’t think I can go, Bastian. Not with this baby bump. I’m not exactlybeach material right now.”

I could hear the selfconsciousness in her voice, the way she downplayed herself. It irritated me that she still thought so little of herself. This was Kaelen’s doing. His neglect, his betrayalit had

left its mark on her, even now

Kaida,” I said firmly, you should be proud of yourself. Your baby bump is nothing to be ashamed of. You’re carrying life, and that makes you beautiful. Don’t let anyone make you feel otherwise.”

There was another pause, and I could sense the conflict in her

Are you sure?she asked quietly

I’m positive,” I replied. You’ll enjoy yourself, I promise. Let’s just go and have some fun, forget about everything for a little while.”

After a few more moments of hesitation, she finally relented. Okay, Bastian. I’ll go. I justI guess I need to stop overthinking everything.”

I smiled, feeling a small victory. That’s the spirit. I’ll pick you up in thirty minutes.”

I hung up and grabbed my keys, excitement surging in my chest. Today, everything was going to change

When I arrived at Kaida’s apartment, she was waiting for me at the entrance, her hand resting on her slightly rounded belly. She had chosen a simple bikini, the fabric hugging her frame comfortably. Her baby bump was perfectly visible, and for a moment, I felt a flicker of something warm. She looked radiant, despite her initial insecurities. She was stunning

She caught me staring and blushed slightly. You’re sure about this?”

I nodded. You look great, Kaida. Don’t worry about a thing.”

She smiled, though it didn’t quite reach her eyes. I could tell she was nervous, but she was trying. That was all that mattered

Let’s go,” I said, opening the car door for her. The beach is waiting.”

The beach was buzzing with activity when we arrived. Families, couples, and groups of friends dotted the sandy shores, enjoying the warm sun and the crashing waves. It was the perfect setting -innocent and full of life. No one would expect what was coming

Kaida seemed to relax as we found a spot near the water, the sun warming her skin. We spread out our towels, and she sat down, leaning back on her hands as she looked out at the ocean

It’s beautiful here,” she said, her voice soft. I haven’t been to the beach in years.”

I nodded, sitting beside her. It’s peaceful, isn’t it? A good place to clear your mind.”

I admired Kaida for a brief moment, the way her eyes glittered when she smiled, her fresh and glowing skin as she sat under the warm sunlight. I swear if Kaida wasn’t already with Kaelen’s babies, I would have had her all to herself. The moon goddess has her ways of making me long for something, rather someone, who can’t be mine

But what if I tried harder? Besides involving Kaida in my plans to get back at Kaida, what if I tried harder to win her heart? Surely, it won’t break Kaelen further but this wasn’t about Kaelen or my revenge plans, this was about wanting to have the woman who I am in love with

Yes, I wanted to be with Kaida no matter how bad things turn out to be in the near future

We spent the next hour talking and laughing, enjoying the moment. I couldn’t help but notice the way she was loosening up, the way her insecurities seemed to fade the longer we sat there.

watched her smile, saw the light in her eyes, and for a brief moment, I almost forgot about my

plan

But only for a moment

As we walked closer to the shoreline, Kaida waded into the water, letting the cool waves lap at her

feet. I stood nearby, watching her, waiting for the inevitable

And then, it happened

Kaida.”

The voice was sharp, commanding, and it sliced through the air like a knife. My entire body tensed

as I turned toward the sound, already knowing who it was before I saw him

Kaelen

He was standing just a few feet away, his eyes locked onto Kaida, his expression unreadable. Alara stood beside him, her face a mask of confusion and curiosity

Kaida froze at the sound of her name, her head snapping up to meet Kaelen’s gaze. I could see the shock on her face, the way her entire body went rigid

Kaelen took a step forward, his eyes never leaving Kaida. His voice was low, almost dangerous as he repeated her name

Kaida.”
