Chapter 175
Athena’s POV
The tears stopped flowing down my cheeks and the shaking stopped and a strange icy calm washed over me like I was suddenly looking at everything
from outside my own body.
I lifted my head slowly and met his gaze directly and my lips curled into a bitter smile that felt foreign on my face.
“You think killing her made you win something?” My voice was quiet but it carried through the space between us and was sharp as a knife cutting
through flesh. “You think taking Jess away from him somehow made me yours?”
His smile faltered just slightly and I could see confusion flicker across his features so I pressed on and my voice got stronger with every word.
“You actually failed Daxon and you failed spectacularly. You killed an innocent woman and her unborn child and guess what happened? I still wasn’t yours after all that blood was spilled. Killing her didn’t make me love you and it didn’t make me want you and it didn’t make me yours.”
I leaned forward as far as the chain around my wrist would let me and my glare cut through him like a blade.
“All it did was show me exactly what you really are underneath all your pretty words and fake charm. You’re a coward and you’re a monster and you’re a man who’s too weak to win a woman without spilling innocent blood first.”
I could see his jaw tighten and his eyes were burning with rage but I wasn’t finished with him yet.
‘And even if you kill Tristan too it still won’t make me yours Daxon. You’ll just be a murderer standing in a room full of the ghosts of people you’ve killed while screaming at a woman who will never ever love you back no matter what you do to her.”
The silence between us was electric and tense and dangerous but I held his gaze and kept smiling because for the first time since this nightmare began l felt like I had some kind of power again.
“You want to know something else?” I said and my voice was getting stronger with each word that came out of my mouth.
“You’re stupid and you’re weak and you’re pathetic. Because even after everything you’ve done and after all this blood you’ve spilled and all this pain you’ve caused, I am still his and I will always be his.”
Daxon’s face darkened and I could see the fury rolling off him in waves but I wasn’t done destroying him yet.
‘You know what the really funny part is though?‘ I laughed and it was bitter and cold but it was real.
“Even if I did say his name that night it wasn’t because I loved him then. I barely even felt anything for him back then and I probably just thought he was attractive or interesting or whatever. But you turned that tiny little nothing into this whole obsession and you killed people over it.”
I shook my head and looked at him like he was the most pathetic thing I’d ever seen in my life.
“You created your own worst nightmare Daxon. If you had just been a good mate and treated me right I probably would have forgotten all about Tristan Hayes and been happy with you.
But instead you became obsessed with a man I barely thought about and you turned him into the love of my life by being so terrible that anyone else looked perfect in comparison.”

Chapter 175
His hands were clenched into fists at his sides and I could see a vein pulsing in his forehead but I kept going because I wanted to hurt him the way he d
hurt me and everyone I cared about.
So congratulations Daxon you played yourself. You turned a random attractive guy I might have thought about once into my soulmate and the love of my life. And now even if you kill him I’ll spend the rest of my life loving his memory instead of you.”
“Shut up,” he said through gritted teeth but his voice was shaking with rage.
‘Why should I shut up? You wanted to talk about the truth right? Well here’s the truth. You’re a failure as a man and as a mate and as a human being. You had everything you could have wanted and you threw it all away because you were too insecure to handle the fact that your mate might have thought
about someone else for five seconds.”
I leaned back against the wall and looked at him with disgust.
