Chapter 234
He lowered his head, taking his time, and I watched his eyes darken even more as he got closer. When his lips finally touched mine it was soft and gentle, almost tentative, like he was asking permission even though we both knew I’d give him anything.
I melted into him, my hands coming up to rest on his chest. I could feel his heart pounding beneath my palms, as wild and frantic as my own.
The kiss was sweet at first, full of love and tenderness and all the things we felt for each other that were too big for words.
But I wanted more. I needed more. I pressed closer to him and parted my lips slightly, deepening the kiss just a fraction. Tristan groaned low in his throat and the sound sent a shiver down my spine.
His hands tightened on my waist, his fingers digging in slightly, and I felt his restraint starting to crack.
I slid my hands up his chest to his shoulders and then around his neck, threading my fingers through his hair. It was soft and still
slightly damp with sweat from the ride.
I tugged gently and he made that sound again, that low groan that made everything inside me tighten with want.
The kiss grew deeper, more urgent. His tongue traced along my lower lip and I opened for him without hesitation.
When our tongues met I felt it all the way down to my toes, felt the mate bond flare to life between us and amplify everything we
were feeling. It wasn’t just desire anymore, it was need, pure and primal and overwhelming.
Tristan’s hands slid from my waist down to my hips and he pulled me even tighter against him. I could feel every inch of him pressed
against me and it still wasn’t close enough.
I wanted to crawl inside his skin, wanted to be so close that there was no separation between us at all.
His mouth moved against mine with increasing desperation and I matched him, kiss for kiss, touch for touch.
My fingers tightened in his hair and he made a sound that was almost a growl. One of his hands moved from my hip to slide up my back, his palm hot even through the fabric of my dress.
When his fingers reached the back of my neck he held me there, not roughly but possessively, like he was claiming me.
I broke the kiss to breathe, gasping for air, but Tristan didn’t let me go far. His forehead pressed against mine and I could feel his
breath coming hard and fast against my lips.
We stayed like that for a moment, both of us trembling with the effort of holding back.
“We should get inside,” he said, his voice strained and rough.

“Yeah,” I agreed but neither of us moved.

His thumb stroked along my jaw, soft and gentle, such a contrast to the tension in his body. I turned my head slightly and kissed his palm, feeling him shudder at the contact.
out.
His eyes were so dark they looked almost black and the way he was looking at me made me feel like I was burning up from the inside
He kissed me again, softer this time but no less intense. It was slow and deep and full of promise, full of everything that was going to happen once we got inside.
I felt his restraint in the way his hands stayed carefully on my waist and back, felt how much he was holding himself in check. But I also felt the tremors running through him, felt the barely controlled desire that matched my own.
When we finally broke apart we were both breathing hard. He took my hand and laced our fingers together and we walked towards his door. Every few steps he would glance at me and I would catch him looking and the heat in his eyes made my stomach flip.
I got to the last step, and looked back at him. The step felt too long today, and I didn’t know why.
