I helped her move back to her seat, both of us wincing at the separation. She adjusted her dress
while I fixed my jeans.
Once we were both decent, I started the car and pulled out of the parking area.
The drive home was quiet but charged. I could feel Athena’s eyes on me and every time I glanced
over, she was looking at me with that same hungry expression.
My hands gripped the steering wheel tighter. This was going to be a long few days.
“How long does heat usually last?” she asked after a while.
“Three to five days usually,” I said. “Sometimes longer.” She let out a small whimper and I
glanced over at her.
“Are you okay?”
“I’m just really uncomfortable,” she admitted. “Everything feels too sensitive and I can’t stop
thinking about you touching me.”
I groaned. “You’re not making this easy.”
“Sorry,” she said, but she didn’t sound sorry at all.
When we finally got home, I barely had the car parked before Athena was getting out and
heading for the door.
I followed her, watching as she fumbled with the keys. Her hands were shaking.
“Let me,” I said, taking the keys from her and unlocking the door.
The moment we were inside, she turned to mend pulled me down for a kiss. It was desperate and needy and I could feel the heat radiating off her skin.
“Upstairs,” I said against her lips. “Now.”

We barely made it to the bedroom before she was pulling at my clothes. I helped her, stripping
off my shirt and jeans while she worked on her dress.
When we were both naked, “I pulled her onto the bed and she immediately climbed on top of me.
“I need you again,” she said, and there was almost panic in her voice.
“I know,” I said, running my hands up her thighs. “I’ve got you.”
She positioned herself over me and sank down with a sigh of relief. We both groaned at the
feeling.
This time was slower, more deliberate. I held her hips and guided her movements, watching her
face as pleasure washed over it.
“Better?” I asked.
“Yes,” she breathed. “So much better.”
I knew this was just the beginning. Heat could be intense and demanding, and I would need to
be there for her through all of it.
But as I watched her move above me, her head thrown back in pleasure, I realized I didn’t mind.
I would do whatever she needed, give her whatever she wanted.
Because she was mine and I was hers, and we would get through this together.
Just like we’d gotten through everything else.
But I wasn’t more wrong because…
Day seven.
Seven fucking days.
I stared at the calendar on my phone and felt a mix of concern and exhaustion settle in my
chest.

Athena’s heat was supposed to last three to five days, maybe six at most. But here we were on
day seven and she showed no signs of it ending.

I glanced over at her sleeping form beside me. She looked peaceful now, her face relaxed and her
breathing even. But I knew that the moment she woke up, she’d want me again.
Not that I was complaining about the sex itself. God knows I loved being with her, loved the way
she responded to my touch, loved the sounds she made when she came.
But I was worried.
This wasn’t normal.
I’d asked around discreetly, talked to some of the older wolves in the pack who had more experience with these things. They all said the same thing. Heat lasted three to five days, sometimes
six. Never seven.
Athena stirred beside me and I felt my stomach tighten. Here we go again.
Her eyes opened slowly and immediately found mine. I watched as awareness crept in, followed
by that familiar look of need.
“Tristan,” she said, her voice still rough with sleep.
“I’m here,” I said, moving closer to her.
She pressed against me and I could feel the heat radiating from her skin. It was like being next
to a furnace.
“I need you,” she whispered, and her hand moved down my chest to my stomach.
I caught her hand gently. “I know,” I said. “But we need to talk about this.”
She frowned. “Talk about what?”
“About how long this has been going on,” I said carefully. “It’s been seven days, Athena. That’s longer than normal.”
