Chapter 249
She pulled back slightly, confusion crossing her face. “Is that bad?”
“I don’t know,” I admitted. “But I think we should maybe see someone. A healer or a doctor or
something.”
“After,” she said, and her hand moved lower despite my attempt to stop her. “Please, Tristan. It
hurts when you’re not inside me.”
I groaned because I knew I couldn’t deny her. Not when she was looking at me like that, not
when I could see the desperation in her eyes.
“Okay,” I said. “But we’re definitely talking to someone today.”
She nodded quickly, already pulling me on top of her. “Yes, fine, whatever you want. Just please.”
We had sex again and it was just as intense as every other time. Athena clung to me like I was
the only thing keeping her grounded, and maybe I was.
When we finished, she fell asleep almost immediately, exhausted from the constant need her
body was putting her through.
I lay beside her and tried to figure out what to do. We couldn’t keep going like this. She was
exhausted, I was exhausted, and we’d barely been functional at work for the past few days.
The company.
We’d gone back to work three days ago after I realized we couldn’t just abandon the business.
Orion and Sarah were there but they still needed us.
They’d been understanding when I explained that Athena wasn’t feeling well, but I could see the
questions in Orion’s eyes.
He knew something was off.
Going to work with Athena in heat had been a special kind of torture.

Her office was right down the hall from mine, close enough that I could get to her quickly but
far enough that Orion wouldn’t immediately notice if she disappeared into my office.
And she did. Often.
I decided to wait until she woke up and see how she was feeling. Maybe the heat was finally
starting to ease.
Two hours later, I had my answer.
It wasn’t easing.
If anything, it seemed to be getting stronger.
Athena woke up and immediately climbed on top of me, not even bothering with foreplay. She
just needed me inside her and she needed it now.
“Athena,” I said, trying to slow her down. “We need to get ready for work.”
“Work?” she repeated, like she’d forgotten what that word meant.
“Yes, work,” I said. “Orion messaged me this morning. He needs us there for a meeting with a
new client.”
She stopped moving and looked at me with wide eyes. “I can’t sit through a meeting like this.”
“I know it’s hard,” I said. “But we have to try. We can’t keep making excuses.”
She bit her lip, considering. “What if I need you while we’re there?”
“Then you come find me,” I said simply. “You know where my office is. You come there always,
remember.”
now.
Her eyes lit up at that and I realized maybe that wasn’t the best thing to say. But it was too late
“Okay,” she agreed. “We can go to work.”
Getting ready took twice as long as normal because Athena kept getting distracted. I’d be brushing my teeth and she’d come up behind me and start kissing my neck. I’d be getting dressed

and she’d push me onto the bed.
Finally, after what felt like hours, we were both ready and heading to the car.

I’d stopped taking my bike three days ago because Athena had developed this thing about car
sex. She said it was the enclosed space, the way she could straddle me in the driver’s seat, the thrill
of possibly being caught.
I missed my bike but I loved her more so the car it was.
The drive to work was tense because I could feel Athena’s eyes on me the entire time. Every time
I glanced over, she was staring at me with that look.
“Stop looking at me like that,” I said, trying to focus on the road.
“Like what?” she asked innocently.
“Like you want to jump me while I’m driving,” I said.
“But I do want to jump you while you’re driving, she said, and I heard the smile in her voice.
I groaned. “Athena.”
“I’m just being honest,” she said.
When we finally got to the company, I parked in my usual spot and turned to her. “Okay,” I said.
“We’re going to go in there and act normal. Can you do that?”
She nodded. ‘I can try.”
“That’s all I’m asking,” I said.
We walked into the building together and headed straight for our offices. Orion’s office was at
the far end of the hall, mine was in the middle, and Athena’s was between mine and the conference
room.
I saw Orion standing in his doorway as we approached and he raised an eyebrow.
“Look who finally decided to show up on time, he said with a grin.

“Very funny,” I said.
He looked at Athena. “You feeling better?”
She nodded quickly. “Yes, much better. Thank you.”
I could tell he didn’t quite believe her but he didn’t push. “Good,” he said. “Because we’ve got
that meeting in an hour and I need you both there.
“We’ll be ready,” I said.
Athena headed to her office and I went to mine, grateful for a moment to breathe. I’d barely sat
down at my desk when there was a knock on my door.
“Come in,” I called, expecting Orion.
But it was Athena.
She stepped inside and closed the door behind her, locking it.
“Athena,” I said warningly. “We just got here.”
“I know,” she said, walking towards me. “But I need you.”
“You had me an hour ago,” I pointed out.
“That was an hour ago,” she said, like that explained everything.
I sighed but I was already reaching for her because I couldn’t help myself. “We have to be quick,”
I said. “The meeting is in an hour and Orion will come looking for us if we’re not there.”
“I can be quick, she promised.
She wasn’t quick.
