Tessa’s POV
I followed Seth through the front doors, to be warmly greeted with
the fresh crisp sun and the line up of many pristine parked up cars in
a variety of different shapes and colours.
I hold back for a moment, allowing Seth to take the lead, as I follow
him over towards a Khaki green Land Rover – watching its lights blink
to life as he gets near to signify that this was his car.
I head around to the passenger side, climbing in, as he climbs in to
the drivers side and starts up the car.
“From what I remember, Leo doesn’t live far.” Seth announces, pulling
the car out of the spot before driving down towards the large main
gates in an attempt to converse.
“Y–Yeah… Erin told me that she was only living d–down the hill.” I
comment, as he nods and pauses for the gates to open for us –
allowing us to exit.
I take in the surroundings once more, enjoying how neat and tidy this

pack was as everything just seemed so pristine and well kept.

It was obvious that the wolves here took pride in not only their
personal appearance, but the appearance of their homes, cars and
overall lifestyles.
“This is the street…” Seth says out loud, taking a left turn further down the hill as more grand homes come in to view.
I shrink back ever so slightly, growing nervous at the thought of what
we might find on the visit.
From when I had last saw Erin, she looked miserable, and from what I hrad been told – she was reduced to sleeping on a mattress on the floor which was a cry for help in itself let alone how he had treated her in
front of everyone at the dinner table…

Leo clearly had his career in check to say the least, being blessed with
a home like the ones we were currently passing, but that was no mask
for his rotten attitude and personality.
The car came to a slow, as I turned to glance at Seth who was looking
out of his own side window.
“Number sixty… this is us.” He states with a nod, pulling up outside a
decent sized home with a neat front lawn.
Seth cuts off the engine, before unclipping his seat belt as I still and

hesitate on reaching for my own.
“Nervous? You look like you’ve seen a ghost!” Seth comments loudly,
as I inhale a sharp breath and nod a little.
He’s not wrong…
“Well lucky for you, you’re out with the packs trusty Beta! I’m the
next best thing to Kane himself Tessa so you really don’t need to
worry – I’ll handle this.” Seth states boldly, his tone holding a sense of
lighthearted humour as I begin to smile at his attempt to put me at
ease.
“O–Ok… let’s go then…” I breathe, as Seth grins and watches me
unclip my belt.
“Just let me do the talking yeah?” He states one last thing, as I think
of his words.
Was that a warning? Perhaps I could piss Leo off by saying
something… especially to Erin… I need to be cautious with this!
With that, we both climb out of the vehicle, as I hurry my way around
the car to catch up with Seth’s large strides.
Why does every damn male wolf have to be so tall and walk so fast?!
T
Chapter 17
I reach him just as he gets to the front door, before he wastes not a
moment more as he knocks heavily on it – turning to shoot me
another smile before turning his attention back in anticipation.

It seems there isn’t much sign of movement from within, as I begin to
worry that we had came at the worst time. “A–Are they out?” I ask, my
voice clearly laced with slight disappointment.
With that, Seth knocks on the door again, the knock itself being sure
to echo around the large home with its own authority…
We pause yet again, before I sigh a little. Of course we come when
nobody is home! That’s just my damn luck!
“Looks like we will need to come back another time Tessa!” Seth
confirms, turning his back and gesturing for me to follow him back to
the car.
This sucks!
I trudge my feet up the path behind him, resorting back to my
original feelings of helplessness and worry. This was my best shot and
it’s ruined!
I go back around to my side, turning to offer one last glance to the
home in which my friend was currently enslaved to, before my eyes

widen and almost fall out of my head…
“She’s in!” I breathe out, spotting Erin herself upstairs as she peers
out of the window from behind the curtain.
I instantly wave, as Seth takes notice from inside of the car and turns
his attention back to where I’m looking.
She looks cautious, as she glances up and down the road, before
lifting her hand to wave back – giving me a small smile in return.
It was hard to see her properly, with the sun blinding us as we stared
up towards her window, but I was thankful to find Seth climbing back
out of the car to join my side.
“I’m guessing he’s went out and has left her home… that explains why
she’s been too nervous to come to the door!” Seth speaks his
thoughts, as I point towards the front door and mouth for her to
‘open it‘.
Erin hesitates, as she takes her time to think on my gesture, glancing
around once more before nodding slowly.
With that, my heart skips a beat, as she moves away from the window
to signify that she was indeed coming down to let us in!

This is a miracle!
“You got lucky!” Seth chuckles, as I can’t fight back the grin that
stretches across my face – hearing sudden movement come from
within the home.
Next we hear a click, followed by the small rattle of a chain, before
the door handle is turned and Erin’s face comes in to view.
“Good evening Erin! I don’t know if you remember me but I was at the
dinner… I’m the packs Beta… Seth!” Seth speaks instantly, his
confidence radiating off of him as he stretches out his hand to shake
hers which she gently reaches out to return.
Although she looked relieved to see me, she also looked pained.
“Can we come in?” Seth pushes, as I watch Erin grow unsteady with
the question.
“I uh… maybe I shouldn’t… Leo said not to leave or to answer the door to anyone whilst he’s gone…” Erin stammers out her words, showing evident panic as my brows furrow at just how broken and
terrified she seemed.
“I understand….. but my duty as the pack Beta is to carry out random home visits in order to ensure that all pack members are living up to

the Alphas standards here… Leo will understand why you had to let me in trust me.” Seth pushes on, as Erin seems to think on his
words.
I was thankful that he wasn’t willing to let this go so easily, and still couldn’t quite believe that he was willing to help me out with this…
especially without Kane knowing…
“U–Uh… ok sure… I mean, I guess that makes sense… come in.” Erin gulps slightly, before eventually opening the door enough to allow us
both to step inside.
Once my body is across the doorframe I instantly grab my friend and crush her to me – as an overwhelming sense of panic floods me from
within.
I needed to see her again… it was destroying my soul thinking about
what she was having to deal with down here!
Seth takes the moment to close over the door, before stepping away from us to poke his head inside a couple of the closest rooms – seeming to begin his own little investigation.
“I’m so happy to see you again Erin!” I sniffle, as her arms cling on to
me tightly.
T
Chapter 17
“You too… I can’t stand it here Tess!” Erin admits quietly, cautious
that Seth was still nearby.
With that, I pull back, glancing in to her tear filled sunken eyes as they plead back with me desperately for any form of help.
“Where is your male?” Seth approaches us once again, as we turn to see him – this being my first time taking in the inside of the home
since stepping in here.
It was minimalistic compared to Kanes home yet it was clean and
rreat – downstairs was at least.
I don’t know what I had actually expected? Some dirty, crummy living
space that reeks of beer and sweat? Most likely.
“He uh… he goes out a lot… usually to the pub, I think.” Erin nods in response, as Seth cocks a brow at the statement.
“Is he due back here anytime soon do you think?” Seth pushes on, as
Erin shrugs and hobbles from foot to foot anxiously.
“Well it’s hard to tell… but he did only leave an hour ago… so maybe
not?” She responds softly, as Seth nods and looks around once more.
“Great. Why don’t you two grab a drink and I’ll carry out my checks?”

Seth suggests, as my heart flutters at the chance to speak with my
friend alone.
“Thank y–you…” I nod eagerly, offering him a smile which he knowingly accepts with a curt nod of his own before heading for the
staircase.
Finally, I can truly get some insight into what life here has been like for Erin thus far… and somethings telling me it’s not going to be
good…
